After this score today I'm starting to agree with Finch. There is a lot of 'give us time' from UNT. If we'd lost by 14 to Troy, maybe not so bad, but come on. You guys that are sort of writing everything off are bad for the program. The administration should see more of a sense of impatience. Go ahead. Flame on. You think I'm bad for the program. I think you're bad for the program. And I'm right. It is TROY, people, not Auburn. 45-7. Terrible coaching. Terrible playing. I don't HAVE any more time for it. You eternal accepters should be ashamed.

1: Turnover margin.

2: Sacks.

3: QB Pressure.

4: Run Stops.

5: Pass INTs

6: Pass Blocks.

7: QB Improved Play.

8: Improved Running Game.

However, the OL needs work so those turnovers can get used. Had those 7 TOs been capitalized on, we'd be celebrating a win. Defense needs work too, but right now the whole team needs improvement. But it's the kind of improvement where you say, "yeah, they're getting there and we'll see something great when they do" not, "man...these guys have a loooong way to go, if they get there at all."

I would have to strongly disagree with you on number 6.

Thats a bit harsh, so what do you suggest. We as a fan-base can't be patient enough to wait two years for Dodge to have a chance to turn it around? Do we just complain to the administration until we win the Belt again? Do we start firing coaches now? Fire Rick V. also. I mean nobody wants to lose, definitely not me but I saw that Troys players looked much bigger and faster then ours. I know we don't have a kicker and so on. What? Should I be ashamed because I am willing to wait two years? Troy is good, maybe top 25 good and our defense has stepped up in the last two games. 7 forced turnovers! Our offensive line was our weakest link today, then our kicking game, followed by special teams. Kicking of course by our lack of confidence in our kicker. But if you really can't handle it save yourself some hard-ache and tune back in the fall of 2009.

Next week the Muts at home, we have a good shot at beating them, I hope to see you there again. I will have some cold beer and hot food to share.

EVERYTHING SUCKED....X's, O's, lack of fans, website, this board, but I will stick with it. Riley vs. Vizza is coming.

The winner of next year's Riley/Vizza battle couldn't win with this team. Is that what you're looking forward to, the Riley/Vizza winner?

You must be new, right?...lack of fans? Maybe you haven't seen the last 2 years, the spring game, the LaMo game after an 0-5 start, or you're accidentally holding this against Troy. If this were still the DD era, I'd be scratching my head at the turnouts we've had...in a good sense.

I'm sticking with the team, too. And I don't like MeanGreenSports, either

Misworded- blocking of passes. We barely saw any of that last season, but we saw some hands going into the air to deflect/knock down passes in the last game.

Also, AlamoCityUNTFan- how would you know about lack of fans at an AWAY game?

I'd accept the retooling excuse if we were seeing improvement in any aspect of the game. We're not. And if it doesn't start happening soon, why expect next season to be any better? Recruiting only goes so far.

It's interesting that you were complaining about the lack of defense earlier in the season.....the defense created 7 turnovers including 3 fumbles they recovered, the offense led in time of possession. ANY new coach that inherits a team that won only 4 games in the last two seasons will take its lumps while rebuilding a team with players that fit his system. For crying out loud...TD inherited 7 tight ends, a position he doesn't use as one example. We had two starters...our kicker and DB that quit the team before the season started, two good players who were expected to contribute gone...one probably in jail and the other suspended indefinately, have you counted how many true freshmen and reshirted freshmen we are playing, one heck of a lot more than a solid team would be playing.

Yes recruiting new players and getting them Div 1 experience will take a year or two.....but I really see the light at the end of the tunnel with the recruiting success we have have...how many new coaches recruited the Texas HS 5A MVP of the year and the Texas HS 4A MVP of the year QB'S to start their recruiting efforts, look at how many 3* players were recruited TD has recruited when he had only 2.5 months his first recruiting season and committed 12 players early in the season. Some people need to get REALISTIC in their expections.

Tell that to OK St. if not for a couple late scores they basically got beat by the same score we did in Troy. Troy has a season defense that blitzed all out against a line we knew was young an unseasoned coming into this year. I hate to say this but if we had opened the season at Troy instead of Oklahoma the score woud have probably still been 79-10. Patience. Rome was not built in a day and neither will the dynasty at UNT. Put our line from '02-'03 on the field and you would have seen an entirely different game with an entirely different score. More than likely a win.

Oh and don't think our defense is improving? Our D held them to less total yards than Arkansas, Florida, and Ok. St and forced more turnovers. I would say thats an improvement.

I listened to the 2Q and end of 3Q thru the 4Q.

Sounds like Troy just blitz all day and the OL did nothing to stop it. Thanks goodness Vizza is one tough SOB b/c he has been blasted in every game he has played in.

7 TO's and 7 points is horrible for the offense. I heard at least 3 TOs deep in Troy territory.

Special Teams needs to work on a ton of stuff.

Evyn Roman getting beat late in the 4Q by a reserve QB/WR connection is bad news.

Congrats to defense on 7 TOs but this brings back memories of 2005 FIU

That can't go on forever. If the OL doesn't step up soon, we are going to have a seriously damaged QB. Daniel Maeger knew that, and when he moved around for his own preservation, everyone said "HE'S GOT HAPPY FEET".

I'm just as positive as anyone about our overall football future, but losing like this in mid-season (we should have anticipated that someone was eventually going to blitz Vizza all day long) causes me to be a bit concerned. We didn't beat the blitz until almost the end of the 3rd quarter.

Well, I thought the offensive line could have done slightly better. :whistling1:

I'm not sure how many sacks Troy got against us, but it was a bunch. Could have account for the 0.7 yard rushing yards per carry we ended up with. Rebuilding or not, this game was not pretty.

So how many D1 schools have two OL starters who had never played a down of Div 1 FB ....see post on freshmen and RS freshmen Nt is playing

I watched the first 3 qtrs at Texadelphia in H-town (which was awesome on a perfect day...)

Our O-line failed to protect Vizza, so its hard to say how well he did. I do know that he is freaking tough, popping right up after getting massacred back there. Also wasnt afraid to stand in there and throw the ball knowing the shot was coming.

We started the game out giving them a short field score, then went 3 and out, then gave up a PR for a TD. 6 minutes in it was 14-0. Seems to me this is the exact opposite of what we wanted to do...

Going for it on 4th down kills us. Score could have been 28-9 at half (far more manageable than 28-0). We need a kicking game in the worst way.

Troy is just more athletic and more experienced running their game. We'll get there, give it time.

It is what it is, a L. Lets get ready for HOMECOMING!

Really-----they scored 45 points against this defense, they had 2 scores called back for a penalty.....yes, they looked just great.

Once again with the really bright mind from Houston.

Well if you had paid attention you would know that the defense gave up 37 points and one of the TD's called back was on a kick return (we call that special teams) not the defense and there was two penalties on that play against Troy.

I'm still very optimistic about the future, but having heard only the 1st and 4th quarters of the game on the radio yesterday, I can't say that I was overly impressed with any aspect of our play. The seven turnovers sounds great, but only one score off of seven turnovers? That's got to be an NCAA record of some sort. Having said that, I'm still going to be an eternal optimist and say that we've now got most of the big boys out of the way and maybe we can salvage the season. Let's beat MT next week, and if we can really get pumped for the big home game with Navy and pull off the big upset, we could have a reasonable chance at 5-7. It would be nice to dream about 6-6, but that might be a little too much to ask at this point. :)

We led in time of possession because Troy had six touchdown drives in which the longest drive took 1 minute and 47 seconds.

I'm all for finding the silver lining in dark clouds, but I feel like channeling Jimmy Johnson. We're leading our conference in excuses.
