The young guys of today don't know this guy unless they are a historian. I don't think his name lends that much to the table, inititially, but once they get there on recruiting trips, I am sure Baylor will play up one of the best LB's ever. Baylor's only cure is to win games, period.

Mike Singletary? THE Mike Singletary?

That's awesome. That's really, really awesome. I remember watching him when I was a kid...I thought he was so bad-@ss, even when I'd see him out of uniform with his Coke-bottle glasses on. This could work out for Baylor.

He's a legend, and classy, but until Baylor can start bringing in the blue-chippers, they will not be a force in football.

And can he coach?

but their parents know of him, and parents play into where a kid decides to go...

I've heard great things from the kids who played for him. He's a great hire for them and I hope he does well. At the very least, he can physically intimidate every coach in the Big 12 except for KSU's.

And I guess Mike Mangina, but to be there, Big Gina is not quite a man and not quite two beasts. And yes, before you correct me, that is how everyone I know from KU refers to him.

Is this a Deuce Bigalow reference, as in "You got to sell your mangina"?

...Big Gina is not quite a man and not quite two beasts....

Nevermind...I thought it said two breasts and was gonna disagree after seeing him on TV a couple of weeks ago.

Saw a posting in the Austin American-Statesman yesterday that a former A&M Coach told a reporter that a deal had already been made to make Major Applewhite the new A&M football coach. You can read anything in this day of electronic news.

Sort of a quasi-phenomena how "new coach recruiting" has become almost as big a deal among Texas NCAA D1-A college alums & fans as annual Winter high school recruiting.

And gee-willakers, didn't Coach Fran lose all his luster down in Aggieland? Seems the job and the man just never meshed from the git-go.

Coach Fran's down fall is quite interesting. Winner at New Mexico, TCU, Bama, and then virtually nothing at Aggie land. Expectations too high?

He's been coaching in the NFL for awhile now.

So has Matt Simon.

I guess my point in my earlier thread is his ability to be a head coach, which is much different from being an assistant. Case in point, Norv Turner. He's a great coordinator but not a good head coach.

My gut feeling is that he will be an excellent coach.
