This past weekend our offense wasn't exactly kicking on all cylinders, but I was happy to see how the play calling was done. Everyone thinks of TD and the spread as strictly as passing offense, but thats a misconception. Yes we are going to have our games where we chunk it 40 times a game, but TD really wants the ratio more like 60/40 pass run. This past week the running game was working pretty well, but the passing game was lacking. I can't wait to see the game where both the run and pass are really working.

All this offense is concerned with is moving the chains. It's not really a 'bombs away' offense. It is about efficiency. If the run is working, he'll run the ball. If there are throwing lanes and guys getting open, he'll throw it. The neat thing is he will lull defenses to sleep with short routes, and then 'BAM', catch them sleeping and take a shot. There are no complaints with this offense. He'll stretch the field vertically, and stretch it horizontally. There are 6 weapons in this offense on every play, and all of them are contributing so far.

It is working on the college level, and that is with 3 scholarship receivers that were returning. Imagine when the recruits who fit this system get here...it's gonna be fun! It certainly is an exciting brand of football. We are beginning to execute better and better each week. One thing that's fun to watch is Vizza when the protection breaks down. He's a good runner with the ball in his hands, and likes to make things happen.

The line has improved every week and is way better than last year, IMO. From all my complaints last year with the interior line(G,C,G), this new coaching staff saw the problem and fixed it. B)

That was partially responsible for a lot of the bad passing last year. You can be the most accurate passing QB in the world, but if all you do is dodge defenders, you'll never get consistent passing.

Menard, Santiago, Venegas have started every game we have played this year. Baily started 5 of the 6 games with Rose starting the La Laf game. Venegas is the only one that will graduate.

Peachey played in 4 of the 6 so far. Rose played in only the La Laf and Ark game but has several prior years experience. Brian Carlson has played only in the La Laf game . and one I believe non ship player Troy Kokjohn ( 6-2, 258 Fr from SLC) who played in the SMU game.

Here's the problem now as I see it....Menard, Santiago, Bailey and Venegas (5 players for 2 guard and 2 tackle position have played the greatest majority of plays. The only other experienced player is Peachey to replace Venegas and Rose who can play Guard, Center and Tackle.

Other than Menard, Santiago, Bailey, Peachey and Rose, we have no experienced players returning. Carlson and Kokjohn have played in only one game each this year. That only leaves two squad members whom I believe are non ship , Ajani whose status I am not aware of, Jacob Kaiser and Eloy Atkinson none of which have played in a College game the two linemen committed for this year I believe Franklin will play DT, Atkinson OT..but neither have any college experience. what happens if an injury occurs? Who backs them up.

Depth wise we also have Tomlinson and Johnson who will be redshirt freshman next year. And the big 6'8" kid from Pennsylvania.

Yes we will have them, but neither has played a down of college FB and thus have no experience. They will be needed to sub for the 4 OG and 4 OT positions.

I am working on an analysis for next year on all of positions, based on what we know now. Just don't know how to present it yet.

Oldtimer you're forgetting about Drake

Drake starts and plays center the entire game. Yes he played OL in HS but who is going to play center if he plays OG or OT. If Rose plays center who will play OT/OG....the only other center is Nick Leppo who is a true freshman and not even enrolled at this time.

Face it we have only a couple of really experienced players behind our entire 5 position offensive line.

Not experienced, but Johnson, who is redshirting, is a true center.
