till we start winning, Another good guy hits the skids. His asst coach peeing on the bar doesn't help in Waco either.

Guy Morris started at Baylor in the 2003 season so he is in his 5th year. With Baylor at 3 wins and 3 losses this year his record is 18 wins and 35 losses to date. Baylor has yet to play UT, KST, TT, OU and OKSt a very tough row...which could lower his current record to 3 wins and 8 losses this year and 18 wins and 40 losses for his five years.

I actually think this will initially help NT this year...just with the chance in coaching staff. I think we compete as much or more with Baylor than SMU.

That has to be the most thankless job in college football. They have 7-8 automatic losses on their schedule every year, and fans and administration that don't seem to understand that Baylor should be in CUSA or the MWC where they could be competitive every year. I guess once they got addicted to the Big XII revenue stream, it became impossible to pull away from it.

I thought Morriss was a good fit for them. I don't know where they would go for an upgrade.

Baylor is a nice school. I've never considered it that great of a school outside of medicine. But that's just my perception. Just about all of their programs are good.

The one thing that the school suffers from besides being expensive as hell... Waco. That has got to be the worst town in the whole state to have a university in. Nothing appealing about it.

Other than football, Baylor has been quite competitive in every sport or other Big 12 activity. And in football, they’re record is not much worse than Kansas or Iowa State. Both of those teams have been able to start making strides.

Didn't he leave Kentucky after helping to turn around that program?

Leaving Kentucky to go to Baylor turned out not to be such a good move, eh?

And who the hell pees on a bar?! Go Bears!

He's a texas guy and I doubt Kentucky was paying a mil a year.

As a Texas guy, I proclaim the Kentucky job is a better job than the Baylor job, unless you've got a thing for crappy towns on I-35.

Now yes, then no

If my understanding of the law of proclamation is correct, your subsequent contradiction because it is second in time is invalid. Tough luck.

Also, to address your point, wasn't Kentucky in the top 25 the season before Guy Morris left? I think the improvement since he left has been slow. I think at the time he left Kentucky was the better opportunity and Baylor was a risk. I admire people like Guy Morris, though, who are willing to risk it, especially Texas men who seek return to our great soveirgn state, even if it is to Waco.

New coaches at Baylor and SMU will result in much better recruiting for both schools. New coaches always bring in new enthusiasm and both schools will spent a bunch on the replacements. It will be interesting to see the candidates for both schools, both universities have huge challenges.

Don't feel too sorry for Baylor.

They post a losing record every year and what do they get for their troubles? A few million dollars. Big 12 teams go to how many bowl games? When tu won the national championship in 2005, the pay out was $25 REAL LARGE. tu takes out their expenses and distributes to the rest of the conference members...probably close to $1 Million per school. And that is just for THAT game. How many others did B12 teams go to...and won?

Compare that to the Sun Belt Champion, if they win the New Orleans Bowl, the total pay out is LESS then $1 Million. Plus the Sun Belt also does the revenue sharing which puts the pay out to each SB school at around $100K - $150K. And that is the only bowl game an SBC school goes to (yes I know that is "supposed" to change soon to add a second bowl game).

Baylor has all the same disadvantages NT has. We both compete for recruits against tu, zero-u, atm, Tech, et al. Baylor probably recruits the same (if not better then NT) and STILL loses. Both are working on building (or re-building) a football program.

I just find it real hard to feel sorry for even the worst BCS conference team. They are still part of the "Haves" and everyone else is part of the "Have Nots."
