Well, even though our rush defense is bad, our pass defense is ranked 18th in the country. I think this plays to our advantage in a big way against N. Tx.

Even though we are 117th in rush defense, N. Tx. is 118th. They are also 111th in pass defense. They are 119th in the country in total defense. This should be a game of keep-away. We are 89th in total defense, so we should be able to mitigate a lot of their passing game with our pass defense. They average 95 yds per game on the ground and 341 in the air.

If we have an average effort of rush defense, and have our usual pass defense, we put the ball in Omar's hands to do with it what he wants.

Really, I think this game could get ugly, like a few of the posters on here would like to see. If it does, I don't think LB will let it get Oklahoma ugly, but 30 pts would be my guess.

I say we score about 45-52 pts, while giving up only 17-22.

Troy U needs to get in their licks while they can against the Mean Green, because it will not be forever.

Just add our own new stadium out at the Mean Green Village in our 6 million citizen populated North Texas Metroplex, and we might start talking dynasty (but this time moreso at a national higher "ranked" profile than we've had in quite awhile).

Speaking of DFW: Per tonights Todd Dodge Radio Show on the Mean Green Radio Network: UNT has 6 assistant coaches recruiting DFW area high schools. If you saw today's Fort Worth Star Telegram full page recruiting updates, one would see that all that seems to be paying off for TDodge and Staff.:)

AND.................who's to say the Mean Green cannot slip one by the Trojans this Saturday? And that was slip by the Trojans, folks, not slip on the Trojans; :innocent::whistling1: you know, like slip on their football field or something like that? (OK, that was my official Norm Hitzghes "dad joke" for the day).

Our season high is 31 points. With that said, I think we stand a good chance to score 25-35 points.

I guess some people forget that OU put on a passing clinic against our secondary, so I see us really struggling against the Troy passing attack. To win the game, we need the defense to play even better than they did against ULM. Our offense also needs to shake these slow starts that they've had for the entire season.

Troy will be a very difficult game to win, especially at Troy. Oklahoma State got pounded by them early in the season at Troy. The defense will have to step up another notch, mainly the DBs, and Vizza will need a career day so far to beat them.

I am one poster on that site that doesn't see this game as a blowout. This could very well be a shootout with the game lasting over 4 hours. I am VERY nervous about this one!

The one concern I would have if I was Troy, is that the NT defense has found some confidence after last weekend. I am pretty sure our offense will put up at least some decent offensive numbers. If the defense plays as well as they did last weekend, it could be a very tough game.

You guys have a good team and really represent the Sun Belt well. We all have a lot of respect (and even some jelousy) for your out of conference achievements.

Vizza is getting better weekly, and the running game seems to be coming around. I think our offense is potent enough to play against Troy's D.

...it is our defense I'm worried about. Troy has an AWESOME passing attack and against our secondary and current schemes I don't think we can stop them. Sort of a Cowboys/Patriots scenario. Our D is just going to allow too much, and even with good play from the Offense, it just won't be enough.

...but it isn't going to be a 30 point blow out, and Plumm is right. Troy's getting a little payback from their early days in the Conference... We'll get our payback soon enough.

tsufan - Welcome, and thanks for sharing your thoughts!

There's really nothing for us to lose here. The pressure is all on Troy to stay perfect in conference play. I say we go out there and just play hard, and this one will be closer than most expect.

I agree totally. So far, we have gotten everyone's best shot and I expect the same from UNT. If I remember correctly, we were the ones that ended UNT's winning streak several years ago. That was a big deal to us as I am sure it would be to you.

Here's to a good game with no injuries. BTW, if anyone is coming to the game, I would be glad to help out any way that I can.

In our losses to Troy, games have always been close. Closest to a blowout in the series is our 21-0 win in '03.

Troy wins

18-16 ('01)

13-10 ('05)

14-6 ('06)

Wife and I are flying into Montgomery Friday Night and will be at the game. Come by UNT tailgate and say hello. Most of my paternal family is from AL ( Dothan and Anniston), but this will only be my second time in the state.

Flying into Montgomery? I hope you don't get lost in that airport! J/K.....it's a really small regional airport.

Do you need any directions, etc.?

Do you know where you are going to tailgate? I park in the reserved lot directly behind the scoreboard, which is closest to where you are going to be sitting. You are more than welcome to hang out over there with my wife and I. There should be room to set up chairs, grills, etc. Remember, it is our homecoming and available spaces are going to be hard to come by.

You can email at tsufan@hotmail.com if you are interested or if you have any more questions.

The area your map shows as UNT tailgating looks like it will be competing with our Alumni tailgating area near the National Guard Armory. Might want to check on that because I think that area will be swarming with old fogies in cardinal and black.
