I have to put in my 2 cents worth here. If I were president or provost, I would either come up with some kind of proactive plan to entice/force people to pick up after themselves or move to do away with the tailgating on the parking lot, altogether. If I want to see what I saw when I left the stadium Saturday night, all I have to do is drive out to the dumpyard. I shouldn't have to look at all that garbage as I walk back to my car. It's an embarrassment to the university community.

Well said. I still think they should clear out the tailgaters 15 minutes after kickoff, what good could they possibly be doing out there then?

I don't think that there is a restriction on people bringing and consuming their own beer in the tailgating area. However, it was posted last year that there were several incidents of underage drinking which probably tightened the free beer to anyone. I have no idea what the university's liability might be if an underage drinker got hurt on campus and eventually someone would.

Isn't it nice to argue over beer instead of crappy defense.... I heart victories!!!!

as for free beer.... I agree with the people saying that we got spoiled by it. If I go to a bar in denton and know the bartender, I might get a free beer. If I go to a bar in Denton 15 times in a month and get a free beer from the same guy, but show up the 16th time and he asks me for 2.25 for my cold beer.... I am not gonna raise hell. This isn't a stab at anyone on here, but listening to some of the responses I hear at tailgating and at the bar I work at afterwards.... Three are some spoiled little $hits out there that expect stuff...

Along the same lines.... If you come to tavern and I give you a free shot or beer once.... that doesnt mean its gonna happen every time.... Unless you fly in from Boston or Utah ***(Again not aimed at anyone in here)

I'm not an attorney and don't know how tough it is to sue a state institution, but I believe there could be big liability issues. In the tailgate environment, UNT has people on its premises serving alcohol with the University's knowledge and permission. The people serving are almost certainly not certified by the TABC and they are not supervised. The servers have no training on serving minors or serving persons who are getting drunk. If someone gets drunk and causes an accident, the liability could very easily come down on the University - and the tailgater who served them!

It would not matter if they were injured on campus. If someone came to your tailgate area, was served alcohol, got drunk, then drove off and killed someone, I think UNT and the tailgater could be liable.

Then I say again - for those who don't tailgate at all or every game, then beer should be sold at the game, and the funds should be directed straight into the new stadium.

...and if you're going to tailgate, bring your own beer. Problem solved.

Man...when did the lawyers start ruling the world? My take...it's your responsibility! We need to get back to where the person screwing up takes the responsibility for their own actions...but, then again.....I am not one of those who believes that way to get rich in America today is to sue someone. We have way too many lawyers with not enough to do. The medical schools regulate the number of doctors they put out based on a demand formula...BUT, law schools...no way...you got the money...you pass the entrance exam and WHAM...you get to go to law school. We need to put some curbs on (BIG TIME CURBS) on the number and TYPE (WAY TOO MANY PLAINTIFFS ATTORNEYS RUNNING AROUND CHASING AMBULANCES!) of law school students we are admitting and lawyers the schools are graduating. AND, judges need to come down hard on layers (and their clients) who keep filing these STUPID lawsuits blaming everyone on God's green earth except themselves for their actions!

OK, I am now back off my soapbox! My apologies to all the lawyers out there who do the right thing...and, yes, I know that is the majority...but, you "majority" need to do a much better job of policing your own! Goods and services cost way too much and plenty of the cost is the "lawsuit" cost factor! ,Nuff said! <_<
