I think I hate people calling us Southlake U or something like that worse than any NTSU reference. But check out the blog during the game. This fool had to try his hand out at this same line of humor.

Well, I'm about an hour and a half early and nobody's here, but I'm set up and ready to go here at Fouts Field for the bout between the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and the Southlake North Mean Green.

For the most part this season, the Mean Green have flipped between two teams -- North Texas and Southlake North. North Texas is the team that balances the run with the pass, keeps its defense off the field and when its defense is on the field, it's productive.

Unfortunately, Southlake North has shown up more often than North Texas. Southlake North racks up meaningless, sexy passing yards. When it does score, it does so quickly, keeping the defense on the field more. And when the defense is on the field, it's terrible. Southlake North can't win football games. North Texas can.

Which team will we see tonight? It better be North Texas. Monroe has one of the best rushing games in the Sun Belt behind running back Calvin Dawson. The Mean Green won't have a prayer if Dawson runs wild and the offense throws on every down. One part Dawson mixed with two parts tired and bad defense is a recipe for 0-6.

So, tonight, North Texas will have to earn its moniker. When it plays like North Texas, I will call it North Texas. When it plays like Southlake North, I will call it Southlake North. Let the game begin!

The guy is a tool trying to ruffle some feathers, if he would check out UNT's time of possession against Lafayette it was almost twice as long as theirs.

This hack has done the blog during the game before. I think Vito is focusing more on the game for his story, and would probbaly miss things working on the blog during the game, so he has this douche do it for him.

This isn't the first time he has said stupid crap on the blog during the game.

"Oh no, please just don't throw me in the Briar Patch! Please don't throw me in the Briar Patch!"

Where do ya think they're gonna throw the rabbit?

Sports bloggers are the new hotness for black and white shock print. They are worthless IMHO. They are all either failed comedians or columnists. So what they hell, they are half assed in both respects, why not put them on the blogger duty?

Then these jokers get mad when they are kicked out of the media box for not being "real" media...

I am only concerned enough to post about it. I did expect better from our hometown newspapers bog. I won't lose sleep over it when we are called anything other than our proper name, and if calling attention to it feeds the fire, than so be it.

Jeff Andrews is the high school beat writer for the DRC with about a year of experience and apparently a NT alum. Blogging is just another form of reporting and like any other there are people that are good and bad at it. I actually commend the DRC on adding this type of coverage to NT sports. I think we should give Jeff a pass on yesterday's blog and hope the he gets much better.

The same could be said for some of the posters on message boards.

Scott Campbell

Indeed Scott, but we aren't professionals. Therefore some of the posters here can get a pass for not being good at writing or humor.

Maybe the TY guys are trying to pros ... who knows.

I thought it was hilarious. Some of ya'll need to realize that blogging is entirely different from what they are obligated to write through the DRC/DMN. It was all in jest as he was just having some fun.

If you have been in a closet for the last couple years, Jeff has been a regular contributor to the NT Daily and DRC/DMN and is currently covering DFW prep sports. Obviously, he is helping Brett with NT coverage (where was Brett?). FWIW, he's as big a NT fan as any of us. Can't roast a guy for a little sarcasm, can we?

I was listening to the Musers on friday and they were doing a run though for the FB weekend and the NT-ULM game came up and Craig said something like oh ok the North Texas Southlake Carroll Mean Green Dragons or something to that affect. It was kinda funny but the comparison from Southlake Carroll to UNT is really starting to get old and not at all amusing anywhere.

Speak for yourself - I quit my job today and want to go into news reporting.

Actually, I think blogging really needs to evolve into something more and I don't expect everyone here to enjoy or even respect what we do because it is so stupid. I also think just as many posters are "pretending" to be coaches, athletic department decision makers or whatever else. You can't pick and choose what is "real" because it all is, but you can choose what you want to tune into and who you want to ignore.

As long as fans on message boards are committed to taking themselves and college athletics (and sports as a whole) way more seriously than they ever should, there will be a market for satirists - even crappy ones like us.
