Very impressive amount of fans turned out tonight for an 0 - 5 team. I brought my brother to the game who was visiting from El Paso, and he was very impressed with how many where there. He, like I, grew up going to the games, and he mentioned that he had never seen so many students at a game as there were there tonight.

i was very happy with attendance. i was figuring that we wouldn't have more 13K at the game. i think that the culture is slowly but surely changing. it seems that more and mroe students and alumni are buying into the program and making a stake in our future...

Excellent. With Homecoming and Navy coming up, we should definitely bury our average from last year.

Optimistically assuming 21,000 for Homecoming and 28,000 for Navy, we would need just 12,000 for WKU to guarantee an average of 20k for the year.

The FAU numbers are disapointing, considering the success that they are having. Winning games, and making valiant challenges in their losses.

The DMN reported attendance of 22,000 plus for the FAU game which would give us an average of over 20,000 now. Was the DMN report wrong?

You are right. So revise my projections from earlier, we would need just 10,500 at the WKU game (assuming 21,000/28,000 for MTSU/Navy).

It was about 20,200 actual, so maybe that was just a case of a typo showing 22,000.

Ouch!!

Don't forget - FIU is building their new stadium this year, during football season - so they are playing their home games away at various locations. Also - FAU does not have a stadium at all. It just got the approval to be built. They are playing their home games split between 2 different places, an abandoned high school stadium about 30-40 minutes from campus... and Dolphins Stadium - which is like NT playing in Waco... Both schools will have better attendance once they have on campus stadiums. FIU is building theirs during this season, it is being built right now... FAU should start next summer. They both have bigger athletic budgets than us.

That UL-L average looks pretty high considering they couldn't have had more than 5000 fans (if that) when we played there.

Yep, that is their average - they only counted like 8K for our game; but they had 33,500 for McNeese State. That loss to McNeese killed their attendance for their next home game - against US, lol - and it was pouring on top of that,

Let's give a big thank you to the events staff who handled the 'parents weekend'. They got students and their parents to the game, and it really made a big difference on the student side. Thanks to Karen Selby and her staff for the promotion.

I just watched the TV broadcast, and the environment looked ten times better than what I saw at ULL last weekend. I almost forgot I was watching a Sun Belt game for a minute (shots of full stands during punts and kickoffs!).

I left with about 3 minutes remaining and made it home to see ULM score their last two touchdowns. I was impressed by how the game appeared on TV. In addition, the announcers appeared to be much better than those calling the ULL game.

If I'm not mistaken, one of those guys also called the UL-L game. Apparently, somebody had gotten on to him for saying Brock "Stricker" last week, so this week he was saying "Sticker."

Glad to see the MUTS attendance number. They have struggled for years, even with a "sexy" team.

Honest question:

I remember a couple years back that some schools had signed a home and home type deal where the one "home" game was actually off campus or actually at the other school's campus, but it counted as a home game. Am I making that up?

Something like... One year the UL v MTSU game counted towards a UL home game, this year it counted as a MTSU game?

I vaguely remember La Tech doing that with LSU ... maybe it is the theraflu speaking again.

ULM played a home game in Little Rock against Arkansas.

It's the medication. A couple of years ago you could host a home game at a neutral site even if it was closer to your opponent's home stadium. UL-Monroe hosted Arkansas at War memorial in Little Rock (even though Arkansas handled all the ticket distribution and host activities), and Arkansas State hosted Missouri at a game in Missouri.

The rule has since been changed; you must now host two games at that site for it to count towards attendance.

ASUfan should be here in a few minutes to expound further.
