Couldn't be there tonight (had an ill grandparent that I had to visit suddenly). GREAT WIN! It looks like the defense was on point and made some huge plays. The one thing that worries me from looking at the box score was the fact that two of ULM's receivers had catches of 46 and 48 yards respectively. Were these pretty much the only big plays we gave up? I know that ULM isn't feeling much better giving up a 99 yarder to Fitz!

It really is pretty funny how ironic it is that we won this game. D looked great and Vizza looked better than last week. His INT was pretty poorly thrown being way behind the receiver since our guy had two steps on the DB but thats ok, he'll get better. His run was nice, I wish he could have gotten in.

But how about our freshmen, Vizza and Micah. We got some good things going here.

I thought Vizza played much better last week, at least the second half. He held on to the ball WAY too long tonight. Yes he ran tough, but ULM was a horrible pass defense team and we should have eaten them alive. Take away the 99 yard TD play and the passing game did next to nothing. Vizza will definitely get better though. Happy just with the win.

Our offensive line was not forming a pocket tonight, Vizza got hammered with the Defense blowing right through the middle several times.

Since we are bagging on guys...Can someone explain to me why we don't have anyone else return punts than #37.

He scares the hell out of me ever time he goes to field the ball.

Great win and defense played well. Good to see them put together a complete game.

Please don't call it a complete game. We played inspired defense for 3 quarters, and made everyone nervous for the last one.

That was the Prevent, I hate the prevent.

So why after stopping them all game long, did we decide to go the Prevent?

Don't know why, but almost everyone does it even in the NFL. The idea is to prevent the big plays, but it softens up the short game.

I never like it, when a D has played well.

I agree - I just have never understood why teams go to it when they have stopped a team doing their stuff, the whole game leading up to it. Arkansas stopped Auburn most of the game, exept till their very last drive of the game when they decided to switch to Prevent - then Auburn drove the field and won the game. Makes very little sense to me.

I only see one situation to use a prevent.

In situations where only one (1) Touchdown win in the last seconds of the game (ex: Hail Mary) and you are worried about the offense getting behind all (11) of your defenders.

I think the subs were in the game those last two ULM scores.

The second unit was in for the first one but we put our first defensive unit back in and they were scored on their last drive.

Perhaps we played a prevent so early because Mendoza liked our odds: ULM, in order to tie it up, would have had to successfully convert 3 2-point conversions, AND get two consecutive onside kick recoveries. I've seen crazy things, and I didn't feel comfortable until they failed the second 2-point conversion, but I can understand why it might be okay to run that prevent the way we did.

just my 2 cents

That is exactly what I thought was going on. Let them complete the passes in front of you and make sure they don't get past. Just keep the clock running and don't let them get a big play. However, we did a terrible job of keeping the clock running ;) They seemed to either drop the ball on their own or catch it and get out of bounds.

Oh wells.. glad we won.

Roman was in there for an injured Bush. Anyone know his status?
