I was driving to work this morning (Th) and heard that KLUV radio is doing one of their "girls night out" promos to the NT- La-Monroe game Saturday. Didn't hear how the winner is chosen, but the winner goes to the Mean Green Village tailgate before the game and then goes to watch the Mean Green notch their first win under Coach Dodge.

So if you see some women with KLUV garb and hopefully some GREEN on, be nice to them. Buy them a funnel cake or that good pop corn. And could someone make sure the women's restroom is clean ?

BTW, Jody Dean, the headliner of the KLUV morning show, seemed to know la lot about Denton. He was talking about Rudy's and some place else, and knew that Louisiana-Monroe used to be known as Northeast Louisiana.

That was a pretty short drive to work, wasn't it Greenjoe? I'm thinking all of about 6 miles. So, you probably didn't get all that much of the radio show. Good to see you at the Coach Dodge show Monday evening...

Have you got your "Sink Navy" shirt yet...you know the ship no longer exists, right? :lol:

Sorry greenjoe, I think the contest was for the "girls" to go to the SMU homecoming game this Saturday. Although, Jody did mention UNT was just up the road. Don't be mistakened, Jody is a TCU supporter all the way!

SMUt plays at Southern Miss this Saturday and TCU is at Stanford. UNT is the only game in town Saturday! :)

OK, OK...but they are still going to the SMUt homecoming game.... I called in and told them they ought to go to the Navy / UNT game.

I'm wrong, I'm wrong, I'm wrong!!! MeanJoe is right....the "girls" are going to the UNT game this weekend. The KLUV contest must have taken a big turn after I heard it yesterdays because they were headed to SMUt. I just heard on KLUV this morning they are headed to UNT. Great publicity!! They are going to make a big splash about the tailgating and gme fun on Monday morning too!! Sure will be good if the D shows up and we win this one!!

I could be wrong - won't be the 1st time or the last - but at the Children's Advocacy Center of Denton County golf tournament, Jody Dean was the MC and wanted to meet Rick V and get up and see a game. Know that they talked, so this might be the result. I thought I heard that he went to UNT, but I witnessed the conversation but didn't hear it. I think the more support and exposure the better.

There. There. Right there. I heard it again this morning driving to work. The morning crew with KLUV were talking about the game Saturday night. They seemed to have a good time and made the tail gate as well as the game. They got the name of the University right as well as the nickname. Good publicity.

BTW, has anyone heard the as that Georgio and Craig Miller do for "All - Pro Foundations" ? Craig Miller actually speaks well of NT and of the folks at All-Pro. I know it's paid, but still nice to hear something nice from a frequent detractor (though an alum) of North Texas.

      Same here. I am tired of trying to convince my group to re-enlist their time and money to football at UNT. On the other hand I have no issues getting excited for basketball. We have a basketball program that is deserving of our support!

      Odus Mitchell - What Exactly are Too High Standards at UNT?

      We have only had 4 coaches [I missed Jack Sisco] since 1913 out of a total of 18 who exited North Texas with winning records, Hayden Fry being the last in 1978. Goals and objectives must be realistic and obtainable with a little pie in the sky. Quite honestly I have no idea what we our standard should be, only what it has become . However, expect more are you will get less ,which seems to be the norm for our football program.

      I’ll say this as well - There are people in my group of 20+ season ticket holders that have held them since 2003 questioning if they’ll renew next year because it’s not fun anymore. It feels hopeless after 20+ years. They’re just saying, I’ll keep supporting basketball because at least we have a real program and coaching staff that we can all believe in through wins and losses. No one believes in the football coaching staff - except Patrick Cobbs - who we might as well elevate to HC. He’s the only one that actually produces and legitimately gives a shit about UNT. This program’s situation is dire whether the AD realizes it or not.

      I certainly am not making excuses for the termination of Caponi and agree that it was overdue. However I am surprised that our AD and not HC was the one who reportedly pulled the trigger. I owned a medical device sales agency for 30 years and can testify that no one like firing an employee. In fact those who do , unless its a really egregious act, usually wait longer than the should because the real mistake was made by you in hiring them in the first place. Having said that I have never terminated an employ that didn't expect it and in most cases were relieved that the ax finally dropped.
