The most discouraging to me is, we pretty much had the same front 4, the same LB's and all but 2 of the same secondary guys that were at Lafayette last year and this same group gave up 7 points last year as compared to 38 last night. I kept thinking in the second half that we would come up with a stop and we never could. Very disappointing.

Good point. After all, we can't expect to be able to do what McNeese State did, can we?

Right...maybe we were too focused on this:

North Texas (0-4) at UL-Lafayette (0-5)

That is kind of the point I don't expect anything this year, except that our team is building. I am simply happy with the energy and the selfless promotion of our University that Dodge has brought us. I wrote this year off before it ever stated I think we are a few good plays a way from being 3 -2. But I am not in worried about anything until next year.

Your point is we were both winless heading into the last game? That Louisiana-Lafayette's head coach Rickey Bustle is in his sixth season.

Also Florida Atlantic beat us in 2004 when we won the Belt, and they were only D1aa at the time.

No, actually my point was that being ranked #6 in the country in the rushing category didn't seem to help LaLa get any victories prior to us so why should we have gone into the game fearing their running game and expecting to lose?

Frankly, I don't care anymore whether we win or lose the rest of our games. We stand zero chance of winning the belt and going to a bowl game. Vizza has been named the starter for the rest of the year and that makes me happy. Win or lose, zero INTs or 6 per game...it matters not. I like what I've seen of Vizza and I want to give him every opportunity to get real-game experience and lead this team wherever they may go.

That being said...I think we just need to blow up our defense and start from scratch. It sucks beyond suck.

I wanted to win, hell in my heart I expected to win. But I also knew we have not come close to gelling as a team yet.

Vizza is is definitely one of the few positives, I am glad also, very glad he is getting experience now. He will be a true gamer.

With a little luck Vizza may be the piece of the puzzle that gels the team.

The one thing that makes me very very excited so far is offensively, we have yet to put together a complete performance. It seems like we always have 1 quarter where they are not right in every game. If we eliminate that, then we can be dangerous on that side of the ball. I have seen about 2 good quarters of defense all year.

I think the emergence of several FR. namely Vizza and Mosely really allows the fans to remain excited about the offense. I hope the coaches can find some young impact players on the defensive side by the end of the year to give us hope for the future on the defensive side b/c right now it is scary. Seems like it is time to give the young guys a chance especially the ones who have already burned their RS.

The most discouraging thing is to see the so-called fans turn , not only on the team, but, on the individual players and coaches. It needs to be remembered the team that the present coaching staff inherited was not the best team in America , not the best team in the conference. On top of that several of the best players did not return this fall. If you cannot respect the team at least, respect the individual players and coaches.

Big difference was Cajuns not settling for FGs and not turning the ball over in the red zone. Something they have had big problems with before saturday night. 300 yds rushing doesn't mean squat if you lose!

Blow up both team's D! Only consolation for me was that I saw a ton of young guys playing saturday night on D.
