While there is plenty of room for constructive, and sometimes humorous, criticism... there is certainly no room for these ridiculous calls for Dodge to be fired or, for that matter, Mendoza. ESPECIALLY from the newbs who seem to want to do nothing more than raise the ire of long-time members of this board.

This team is going places, even if right now it seems it's heading right to the bottom of Div-I. Dodge isn't here to lose, he's here to win. And if he makes the decision to keep Mendoza, then so be it. I have complete faith in this man... he is a fierce competitor, and he knows that this is his chance at college football immortality. He's not going to blow it.

If Mendoza is fired by anyone other than the coach, Dodge will walk. And this program will be in cellar for years.

We all have high expectations... let's give Dodge the time he needs to build this team to where he wants it to be.

Cheer up Mean Green Nation! And to the newbs, welcome aboard... but get real.

Vince Lombardi couldn't win with this team. Re-building a program is a process, people need to understand that. We will continue to improve as the year goes on, especially when Giovanni and some of the other freshman continue to grow. Dodge will continue to recruit well based on who he is, not his record. We will succeed. Maybe not right now, but we will. Just keep the faith, it will make it that much sweeter.

I have so much faith in Todd Dodge.....that I wish that this week....RV would offer him a contract extension.

I mean it. Let's lock TD up for a few more years. And, when he does start winning and winning big around here....he might show loyalty to us, for having shown loyalty to him.

Thank you Coach Dodge for giving me a program that I can be proud of, once again.

Coach's radio show tomorrow night at Sweetwater.....6:30.

It is nice to see you've rediscovered your faith in the Mean Green (football at least) SUMG. It shows that there is some hope of rekindling the fire we once had.

Dodge will get it done one way or another. Effort was tremendous. We have some damn good competitors who lay it on the line. These guys are not laying down.

Coach Dodge is already getting it done.

Like the TV commentator said last night during our game, TDodge only had 17 official recruiting days last Winter to put some semblance of a recruiting class together, but with a full year to recruit now, look what he's done (for the first time ever in our history) with North Texas having so many earling commits? Of course, they may not all sign, but that happens even at Top 25 schools.

0-5 isn't getting it done.

Weren't we 1-4 at this time last year coming off a 35-0 a$$-whipping at the hands of mighty MTSU on homecoming? Take a chill pill.

Also noteworthy, through 5 games last year NT had punted 30 times to the opponents' 19 times. This year NT has punted 33 times to the opponents' 22 times. If my math skills are still intact that means that this year the same ratio exists. The games just involve more possessions without Darrell Dickey's run out the clock from the start of the game offense.

So, what's that supposed to prove? Last year we sucked and we punted a lot and then we fired the coach.

Thank you PMG for this post and for its brevity!

With this being said I would think TD would have gone after other immediate impact Defensive players if he knew how bad the defense would turn out right now. Of course who could have imagined that Loren, Woodward would quit and Wilson would not take of his academic business.

Thank you, oh mighty Zorlak the All-Knowing for telling us what there is and isn't room for.

I'm one of the people calling for his head, and I'm certainly not a newbie. Neither are MANY of the people screaming for a change on the defensive side of the ball. Mendoza isn't getting the job done, and so far there is ZERO indication that he's making any changes to compensate for what is going wrong. Same schemes week in and week out with no adjustment as the game goes on. This guy doesn't have what it takes to be a college level D-Cord. Do we need to be 0-12 for some to understand that?

I think Dodge is going to be the saivior of this program, but I'm also realistic enough to understand he is rather green (no pun intended) at the college level and is going to make some mistakes, including who is best to put around him to make this program thrive. I'm willing to forgive, and I don't think any serious fan is looking for his resignation - but we are looking at him to admit there is a major gap in the staff's competency and do something about it. ...that's part of wearing the daddy pants.

I'm with you 100% on this,yy28. I am definitely not a newbie, whiner or whatever and have been a long-long time supporter of this program (pre-Fry) with both tickets and contributions.

I have been through more ups and downs with the program than Zorkak can even imagine.

I'm all for Dodge and want him to make it in the worst way. BUT, when there is a glaring problem that even an idiot can see then I am going to speak out. I have earned that right.

All we need is another one dimensional coach who is too stubborn to adjust in order to thrive.

I won't say that TD fits that criteria at all, but I won't say for sure that I know he is not. All I am saying is that I certainly hope to see him react to obvious problems with something other than more of the same. I had enough of that with the last coaching regime and it inevitably led to disaster.

I am not sure what being new to a internet bulletin board has to do with the right of people to voice opinions. Is there some time or posting quota that one has to meet in order for their posts to have merit?
