Our guys come out and get two quick stops, lining up the LB's outside the DE's and showing blitz in turn getting penetration and the first sack in ages?

AMAZING!!!!!!

If we can only stop hitting the guys in the red jersey's with the ball on offense?

I take it back.

We start the thid series with the same 4-3 back to the basics defense enroute to 35 points and over 400 yards given up.

That final 70 yard back breaker was just unreal?

By the way, Time of Possession. North Texas 40:21...........ULL...19:32

Holy crap that's a ton of pressure this offense placed on the defense tonight???????????????????

That's pathetic - our defense is on the field for less than 20 minutes but looks like their completely spent trying to contain a hurt running back. Geez...

I honestly can't imagine this defense giving us any chance to win this year.

Thank goodness we didn't schedule a I-AA team like ULaLa did - I would hate to see Texas State or McNeese State hang 50+ points on us this year...

I watched the whole game, both at home and at TJ Hartford's. Our offense has signs of real life... I had no clue that our defense wasn't even on the field for 20 minutes. Too bad our defense still looks like we pulled them straight off some 3A high school field.

The fact that NT struggled so with a team like that was a problem on every side of the ball. I don't know why anyone would agonize about where to lay blame now. We are so far off the radar it just doesn't matter. It was FIU last year and now this. What's the difference?

I predict we'll be NUMBER ONE on the Bottom 10. It shows you what am unwavering commitment on the part of a university administration can achieve, a commitment to destruction. Could we achieve these 'heights' without it being a conscious decision? You can point to this or that step taken, but that's just a diversion. The results themselves are inarguable.

 Hey Now! I went to a 3A school, and even playing both ways, those guys put in a better performance on defense than I saw tonight.

Our defense leaves me speachless. I just don't get it. We will NOT win any games this season with this defense.

I agree, I was speechless as well. Then one thought came to mind, to be this bad it takes a complete effort - coaching, schemes, techinque, talent and most important speed. I couldn't stop thinking how slow our defense looked. The ability to surround the ball, fly to the ball, get off blocks, make up for a misstep, gang tackle all the things that speed can provide we are void of it every where. This defense is slow - very very very slow.

Ding, Ding Ding.

Oh, I have found myself starting to watch the game a little more differently after listening to your podcast. Cool stuff.

So I can take it that they are slow, but missing tackles ALL over the field, ALL game long, and in the FIFTH game of the season, is coaching. I am sorry, but I just can't accept that the slowness is what is keeping this team from stopping ANYONE. There are no adjustments at half...ect, ect, ect.

I said before the season we would win 5. This past week I changed it to 2, and I think after tonight, unless we see MAJOR changes in the defense (& since we are in game 5 with none the eye can see I doubt we will) we will be lucky to win 1!

That's easy to explain, if you're slow you're not in the position to make tackles. You're constantly reaching instead of putting a hat in someone chest and driving through him. If you don't have pursuit and gang tackling you're trying to make a lot of open field or one on one tackles. In those situations you'll make some, but you will also miss a lot resulting in big plays - and there you have the 2007 season so far (missed tackles, big plays, lots of running space, lack of pursuit etc.).

Well then in that case it wouldn't really matter who was coaching? and if that is case, there is nothing that can be done this season.

Absolutely slow. Fenroy and the ULL QB killed NT. The QB even outran DB Green for a huge gain.

In all fairness, Stevenson and Miller had a few nice plays. But wow, our LB's look damn slow...against one of the WORST teams in the nation.

If we're slow and giving up too many big plays, then we need another LB out there! Mahan and Penson are both pretty quick. Pull Buress and add an extra LB! It ain't exactly rocket science is it?

How can you explain the beating and a fast corner on the sideline? What an ingenious DC?

Slow, can't tackle, and simply don't have enough talent. Complain as you wish, but this defense won't get better until the talent improves.

Offensively, too many turnovers, too many penalties and UNT was lucky to score on a fumble for a touchdown and a tipped pass for a TD. Vizza played well, for a freshman. The kid has to learn and now's a good time to play him.

Just try to keep getting better every day............ keep the proper attitude...............things will improve!

Actually, we play Western Kentucky on Nov 24th.

Technically, they are no longer a FCS team. They are a transitional FBS team.
