UNT could lose Nwigwe

UNT backup linebacker Tobe Nwigwe is facing a court date Oct. 11 and could have his parole revoked.

Nwigwe was on probation and violated the terms of his release.

Like all legal matters, Nwigwe's situation is a complex one. There is a full rundown in tomorrow's edition of the Denton Record-Chronicle.

All of Nwigwe's problems occurred before head coach Todd Dodge took over the program.

Losing Nwigwe would be a blow for UNT, but it is one it could handle because of the depth of its corps of linebackers. Nwigwe is one of seven returning linebackers who started at least one game last season for UNT.

I was hoping his big brother would steer him away from trouble, since he went through the same crap. Guess they may be two peas in a pod.

Adios, I know the defense can not take any more hits but we also do not need to have a bunch of character issues either. Guess the last issues from the previous administration are slowly being cut loose. <_<

I really loved the way Tobe played, but I think if we can afford to lose a player at one position, it is linebacker.

Seriously, you guys need to go see Derrick (Derek? Derik? Dherake?) Tomlin play at SLC. The guy is really good.

That is no joke! Emmitt. Zeke and I went to the SLC game against the #1 high school team from Miami. Tomlin was all over the field. He had two sacks, who knows how many TFL's, and a fumble recoverred. That kid can just flat out get it.. Sucks to lose Wiggy if we do, but I agree we have the talent to fill that gap. Monroe and Robertson can both play middle and back up the Dozer. Anyone who has talked to Toby Nwigwe knows he is a good guy. I hope, regardless of what happens with football, he re-composes himself and gets his life in order.

GMG!!!

Or DB...it's not like the ones we have are stopping anybody.

He should have been punished/suspended/something to send a message this isn't tolerated. He's never missed a road trip, nothing. Big brother has been in trouble going back to '03, and Tobe's just sorta falling in behind. Everyone keeps saying how nice he is, but I'm sure Wal-mart or local law enforcement can care less. He stole merchandise that wasn't his, and he did it while on probation for a previous offense. All he had to do was keep his hands to himself, and he wouldn't be going to court next Thursday. I don't know if the actual theft and his arrest were several weeks apart (I doubt it), but they threw him in the clink AFTER Todge had become coach. Darrell was long gone, and nothing's happened to this kid.

Love it how we all bitch and moan about other teams' jurisprudence problems, until it happens to our team.

Thank you. I noticed in the article it said the infraction occurred in January that is well after Dodge assumed control. For those who say his nice so be it, but is still an accused thief who was already on probation, one-time is a mistake but twice is not a kid being a kid.
