Comments On Recruiting Wr And Ol/dl Recruits.

Dodge went for WR signings last Feb and in the current recruiting season because he was left with few really good WR he inherited...for example NT had 6 TE's on the squad and because his style of offense needs 8 to 10 players who can go full speed and then have equally good players to relieve them...our WR run routes on every play and even though in shape need rest in order to continue going all out. TE's are mainly do not make FAST receivers.

What you are seeing in the way of commits is normal.....WR goe where the school has a spread offense....and many were eager to join TD for that reason. Other than UT and the really big schools....OL and DL prospects commit later in the recruiting season...out of 11 early commits we have 3 lineman, Franklin, Atkinson and Leppo which is good for early commits by a school in the mid majors....We have over a dozen known Big OL and DL that we are recruiting and/or that are interested in NT...and I know of one more DT that has indicated an NT offer from one source but I am waiting for verification from a more public sourc before I post it.

Troy Franklin, Atkinson and Leppo are three good lineman and Franklin plays a mean defense which is where he will probably wind up. I would believe Franklin and Atkinson get early playing time...Leppo knows the system but will need to bulk up to be effective at the college level.

NT is in the race for one OL 6-4 about 275...which is listed as OL-Center who can play all OL positions...But what you don't see is that he also plays nose tackle.

So I see immediate help on the way but truthfully I would believe we might see a few JC recruits this year at key position...just MHO...not based on specific knowledge.

I too believe that Franklin will end up on D, as it seems we have some youngsters on the O line. As far as juco recruiting goes I would like to see 3-4 players brought in. 1 d line, 2 db's, and one o line. You are dead on correct when stating that other than the major d line recruits most wait till later in the season to commit. We will get out guys, don't worry. Lets wait till at least December before we start the this class this or that talk.
