Sure, we were hoping for a quicker start, but we have some things going against us that is just the luck of the draw ( or should that be schedule)? We probably will be 0-4 by Saturday night, but will have played two pro franchises, a team that has five years of continuity and a league leading opening conference opponent. All in all I think that we are doing OK. Now, if we end up 0-7 or so, let's then start to cry. Until then, let's enjoy the games and sit back and take a deep breath. Life is good and life is better than last year.

I agree with you 100%. I would rather lose in a fun and exciting fashion then be less then mediocre in the boring ass days of Dickey Ball. We would still have been 0-3 under Dickey but we would have had about 12K at the home opener and been embarassed by SMU. He probably would have been able to keep the OU game closer, but I really don't care about playing teams close - it is either to win or lose. If we are going to lose, I would like to be entertained and go down trying. Dodge is trying, and it is entertaining. Call me crazy; but I say that we win this week.

It is always good to see this:

5. North Texas 3 1425 475.0 192 64.0 1134 378.0 61 20.3

3. Casey Fitzgerald, N Texas 35 542 15.5 69 3

We have the #5 passing offense in the nation and #3 receiver in the nation. I am impressed and excited about what is happening. I think the whole attitude of the team has changed from the last few years. If the defense and continue to improve and get better we could be in a very good position going into next year.

I know that Dickey had been here for a while, but can we stop with all of the Dickeyball bashing? I know it doesn't count for much in some people's eyes that he took us to 4 straight bowls, but he did. And that is a long way from where we are now.

I am no Dickey apologist. I think I'm not the only fan who is of the opinion that Dickey isn't half as respectable a man as Dodge. And, I'd be willing to bet the players think the same way. But, what I can respect is that Dickey took us to those bowl games during that time, and it could have been a lot worse.

Think of the fan base now... My first game to go to was in 2002 against USF. We lost that winable game and I still came back. Why? Because I saw something in that defense that got me excited. I remember feeling safe knowing our defense was on the field and that they would come up with a big time play or stop.

I am not the only one who jumped on board during the Dickey-era. TTG has also expressed his involvement now as being attributable to those teams. This board was installed during that time and it might be a coincidence that it was, but in looking around on other teams' boards, we have a damn nice place to post. Maybe the admin can give some insight as to why it was, during that time, they felt the need to create this board. Maybe because, as a growing fan base, we needed this.

Dodgeball might be fun now, because we aren't used to seeing it, but you know what else is fun? New Orleans and beyond. And, having a defense that could create big plays.

As for the start:

Which teams left on our schedule can we expect to beat?

Monroe 0-3

FIU 0-4

MTSU 0-4

Lafayette 0-4

SO, if we suck less than all the other un-feated teams on our schedule (all in the Sun Belt Conference), we might finish with 4 wins.

If we can look forward to winning at Western Kentucky, then 5.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have beleived we would get over 20K to an opener against a Belt opponent from Florida after an 0-2 start. The future is very bright.

True...but let's see how many show up for the next home game. Hopefully everyone realizes the good thing happening here...

This board went to the invision software around 2002, but there was previous software before that (2000?), and there was a board under a different name before that. Long before that Harry had an email/fax newsletter.

But yes, board membership always goes up when the team wins.

Pretty amazing when you consider that the entire 20k were Mean Green fans. I went to the Tech/Rice game a couple of weeks ago, and an announced 20k (maybe) was about all they could muster on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Thought TT would make a better showing since they hadn't played in Houston since '95.

I am one of I thought few who predicted that NT would challenge for the Belt crown this year. Most seemed to think this would be a rebuilding year and NT would win 3 to 5 games. What has changed? I am still not counting NT out of the NO Bowl race. I projected NT to be 1 and 2 at this time.

NT could have easily beat both FAU and SMU if not for some very costly turnovers. NT has significantly improved every week, I don't understand a lot of the fatalism I am seeing here, NT can still have a winning record and win the Belt. It will be tough with both ASU and Troy on the road but if the team continues to progress, why not?

And what is all this garbage about TD having to have his own players to be successful. TD has gone out of his way to demonstrate that is not his mindset. Hasn't anyone noticed that none of TD recruits are getting a lot of playing time? Yes, they are freshmen but I thought in particular that the wrs would be used much more. TD is starting all DD recruits at wrs despite there being only a few on ship.
