Wide reciever - 38 completions, and only five wide recievers made catches, one other (Breece Johnson) made the participation report...and he got credit for a tackle so I'm wondering if he only played on ST. At the beginning of the season, we were under the impression that 8-10 players would work in there. Did Breece see time at WR? Did B.J. Lewis make all of his catches in the first quarter again and then sit the rest of the game? Did any of the other wide outs see time and just get missed in the participation report? I love seeing the numbers Casey and BJax are putting up, but they do need a break every once in a while.

Defensive back - Bush and Green were listed as starters. Did Nurudeen see most of the action or is he being demoted? I felt he was all but a lock and the hole was at the opposite corner...also no Kevin Ealey in the participation report. Who saw the most time on the corner and who looked the best? Was Roman's time limited to mostly returns...I don't neccesarily mind him playing corner but I felt Ealey has out-played him so I don't want his time being cut for Roman.

Danny Meager - 51 positive yards of rushing (lost 20 on sacks). were most of these scrammbles on broken plays or designed runs. Also, 3 picks...when did they happen...DM or WR fault...where on the field ect.

O-Line - saw one good report, opening holes for JT...3 sacks, is DM holding on too long? Also just 2 tackles for Pinnick is nice...but whoever Sincere is he seemed to dominate the game.

JT - why only 15 touches...freshman form?

any other interesting notes would be greatly appreciated

The 38 completions were distributed among 5 different WR's. I believe Breece was in on offense when we threw a pick. Or he could have been on a special teams unit like punt or kickoff. Breece did line up at WR a few plays to give Fitz a breather. B.J. Lewis made a few catches scattered over the course of the game. He is a very explosive player.

In the secondary, which I must say played a lot better, Bush and Green stuck out to me at CB. Nurudeen did play. I don't recall Ealy being in there on D.

Meager's rushing yards seemed to be 1/3 on broken plays and the rest were designed. The offense was running some QB/RB Counter plays out of the shotgun, as well as something that looked like a QB zone play. They only ran the QB Sweep once and it didn't do much because of FAU's speed on the edge. They were vulnerable up the middle, and that's where we attacked them in the running game most of the night. I felt like Coach Dodge & Ford called a very good game. There were certainly some complaints in hindsight, but overall they had a good plan, and did a nice job against an athletic defense. I love how they came out and established Jamario.

O-Line did a nice job considering their athleticism. Our blitz pickup looked good. FAU dropped a lot of guys into coverage, so we were able to run the football with good success. The 3 sacks were due to being flushed out of the pocket. Honestly, DM got tripped on a couple of them, or otherwise I feel like he had a good amount of real estate in front of him to make a good chunk of yards. DM did hang onto the ball too long on several occasions.

Jamario was effective when he touched it. Probably could have touched it more, but FAU made good adjustments at halftime to defend our short passing game.

I'll help as much as I can.

BJ Lewis had one catche on the last drive of the game and I don't recall any other receivers making it into the game. They did throw Jamario out wide in a empty backfeild look a few times though.

Don't remember seeing much of Nuradeen during the game (i was mainly watching our lack of pass rush). Roman might have come in a couple of times on defense, but mainly as a return man.

DM, first half of the game is when he had most of his rushing yards if not all of them. Most of the runs were because the db's and lb's were in coverage, so he took what they gave him (these were good decisions), only a couple of called runs. The first interception was thrown our first possession when we had the ball on their 20 and moving the ball extremely well, it was thrown to a well covered receiver (brandon jackson, i think) in the end zone, DM's fault. The second interception was another interception thrown into their endzone (first half i think), which ended another one of our drives that would have ended in a field goal at the worst (i want to say it was almost the same scenario as the first, around the 20) and again DM's fault (bad decision). The third I don't recall at all, but I think that was DM's fault again, but this one came in the second half.

OL, played well the first half, but in the second half Scnelly started blitzing and using stunts and the OL struggled to give DM enough time. DM did hold on to the ball too long on a few occasions, but most of the time he found his way out of the pocket and threw the ball out of bounds to avoid the sack. The OL's worst part of the night were penalties at key parts of the game. Grade, C-.

JT, had a really good game, good portion of his yards on his 42 yd td run. DON'T KNOW WHY HE DIDN'T GET MORE TOUCHES, but the way the OL played in the second it probably wouldn't have mattered.

Extra's

-Defense played better overall, specifically the db's, but we don't have a pass rush (Gillmore saw lots of action in his first game back and looked good).

-In a nutshell the two blocked punts that led to 14 FAU points and the two crucial intereceptions that took away at least 6 points from us, were the reasons we lost. Also, there was a missed field goal with less than a minute left that prevented us from trying an onside kick at the end of the game (didn't really matter).

I hope this helps.

In the post game press conference Coach Dodge said that he regretted going away from the run in the second half, but was forced into it because penalties and sacks kept them in long situations.

Another interesting point-

Did anyone else notice that Jamario Thomas lined up at wide out

on several plays, as well as slot receiver? JT was in several one

on one coverage situations, but I do not think any passes came his

way. FAU was doubling up on Fitzgerald-FAU was not going to let Fitz

make any big plays. I do not recall any inside slant routes being

successfull. Seems like many NT pass plays were quick passes toward

the sideline. The running game was there-running up the middle was

productive.

Two of the 3 ints were in the FAU endzone. The ints looked to be forced

instead of being thrown away.

FAU was getting desperate-- We had them down. They ran the old "hook

and latter" play on a 3rd and 11. The play went for about 40yds and put

FAU deep into NT terrority.

During the end of the 3rd and going through 4th, NT had 5 or 6 drives

that ended in punts. The first block was bad enough, but the second was

worse. The ball actually went forward, hit the ground, bounced off a FAU guy,

and recovered by NT. I thought the ball was ours. I did not understand

the ruling because FAU got the ball.

I ate a bratwurst with kraut, hot dog, about 6 hot wings, several rice krispy treats, several pig-in-a-blankets, oatmeal raisin cookies, potato chips, tortilla chips, carrots, celery, cream cheese dip, and guacamole.

When I got into the game, I had an extra long corn dog, BBQ sandwich w/ chips, 2 cokes, a slice of pizza, and part of a funnel cake.

At least, that's what I remember eating. I did have quite a few beers too.
