I know everyone is hacked at Meager right now, and he did make some VERY costly mistakes tonight...

...but I'm also reading what seems to be a near love fest because the D actually showed up tonight. Nevermind that they got burned on every long pass attempted (thank goodness FAU's recievers aren't very good. I saw several open men drop great passes that would have been turned into TD's or HUGE yardage) but my biggest disappointment of the night was the D. The Line looked VERY good - FAU could barely run the ball, but the secondary, even against a passing attack as weak as FAU's looked TERRIBLE, and I guess we can't exactly blame Roman tonight...

The secondary has to improve and we have to get the turnoever thing under control (by any means, including a QB change) or we're going to be winless this season.

I saw Green make a couple of very good plays. Plays that I haven't seen a DB be that aggressive on in a while. It's good to see, but I wasn't quite sure if he got beat a lot. Maybe someone else who was watching more of that can lend some insight into how he played tonight.

Huh? The D-line got absolutely no pressure on the quarterback save for the sack to end the first half.

FAU was ranked #30 in the country in passing yards per game coming into tonight so I hardly think their passing game is weak.

I agree about the Defense.

The defensive MVPs for this game are all the FAU receivers that dropped easy passes. The 7 yard cushion is still in full effect. Still struggling with tackling, though not as badly as before. Couldn't make stops when it mattered (thinking of a 3rd and 12 and another long 3rd down where we gave up 10 yards or so and set them up for one of several 4th down conversions).

Line looked pretty stout and got a little pressure on the QB. Not much, but then again, there was no additional pass rush besides our 4 down linemen.

This is a talented defense that looks like crap. We went from sometimes mediocre and sometimes pretty darn good (despite being on the field almost constantly due to 3-and-outs) last year to outright terrible this year. Almost every single player is back. The coordinator, however, is not.

Last year we had a good defense that struggled to hold the line or stop the run up the middle, which may have been a function of playing 3-4. This year, we look like crap and can't stop anyone.

Why? Why does our defense suck THIS year when we didn't suck LAST year? Now, everyone has one more year of experience and they aren't being hung out to dry by a weak offense. What is the problem?
