Here is the new student entrance. After construction at Fouts finishes we will go back and touch up and put a clear protective coat on top. Mind you we are not the best artists but I think we did pretty dang well, and yes I know it says the 23 yard line not 25, it was intentional.

Can't tell you about 23. Ninja laws and pirate codes. Otherwise, very very nice!

Then it will be lost to everyone that sees it. Most will just be "WTF?!?" and think it's silly or stupid.

..so please explain the 23?

23 is the number of charter members of Talons as you know it today.

Talons History

" the summer of 1959, a group of seven men led by Jack Wheeler set up an honorary service and spirit organization. After approval from Dean Woods and Dr. J.C. Matthews, President of NTSC, they met in the Hinkle home that housed the former Theta Chi fraternity. Many hours were spent on deciding a name for the organization. "The Green Eagles," "Eagle Supporters," "Eagle Beaks," "Eagle Claws," and many more were proposed, but none of them seemed right. Dean Woods brought up the fact that several years ago, there was an organization called Talons. The name was perfect, but much concern was raised about using the name of the former service fraternity. The organization was in no way meant to emulate or borrow from the previous organization. Since there was no active alumni organization of the former Talons and the fraternity understood the distinction between the two, consent was given and a name was established.

An important element of the newly created Talons was its membership. The organization was to make up of the best of the best by being an honorary group. A committee, made up of representatives from the faculty, staff, and student body, was formed to select members of the organization. To be diverse and equal, no more than 50% of members were Greek. With that, the committee selected from list of some 30, the 23 charter members of the new Talons organization. The purpose of this Talon group was only for the benefit of the college. Its members were challenged to constantly work to instill a deeper feeling of school spirit into the NTSC campus. These men began the Talons tradition of selecting its members from the men who fill the ranks of the student government leaders and officers of professional social and honorary organizations."

I think we should take down those ratty looking black wind screens and put up a nice tarp all the way around with the new logo. Similar to what they do when you have a bowl game and all around the walls of the playing field they have a tarp up advertising the particular bowl or teams.

what a good and loyal Talon you are :D This looks so awesome! And I am so sorry we won't make most of the games - hoping to make homecoming since I haven't missed since 1987 - it's been much, much, much longer than that for Keith. Hopefully, Sherman will be in our seats. He has out tickets now.

The white is paint, right? Not just chalk? It looks sort of smudged up already and if it's not paint will be nasty before the game ever starts.

That would be pretty nice if they did that. Those screens look awfully cheap.
