I read today in the D R-C that we are still the 4th largest university in Texas following #3 Houston by only 369 students. I think it's amazing how far NT has come. Although we have a long way to go.

UT-San Antonio, UT Dallas, and Texas State are not far behind us and may be ahead of TxTech now.

Where can one get the "official" enrollment figures of all of the aforementioned schools? Didn't realize any of that group were closing in on our own enrollment numbers, but feel if that is the case that if will be short-lived if we can believe projections for UNT's future enrollment (2'nd largest in the future) from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

One of UNT's best accomplishments in recent decades is its efforts in making our campus a residential campus; in fact, the largest residential campus this side of UT-Austin. Seems as if that is a trend which will continue, too.

You're right. People who still brand UNT as a commuter school haven't been paying attention to the dorm construction boom of recent years. It's really remarkable.

Here's the link to official statewide enrollment figures. So far they're not updated for Fall 2007, since the reporting day is the 12th class day, which just passed a week or so ago, so not all have been processed yet.

The page linked here also allows you to look at enrollment trends over time. Pretty nifty.

I could not get 2007 results ... not posted I guess.

2006-fall UT- San Antonio .... 28,379

2006 fall Tex-State ................ 27,485

UT Dallas smaller than I had been told, still under 20,000, I had heard it was about 25,000.

2006 fall TxTech ........... 27,996 now slightly smaller than UT-SA .... I am betting Texas-State passes them this year. I assume that includes their medical school and law school which is on the main campus.

The upper two are growing faster than we are...Tech isn't.

________________

It is easy to see why UT-SA and TxState want to become a division I football school because of their large enrollments and in an area of a top-10 city (population wise) of no pro or division I football. It seems to make sense to add them (or one of them) in the future. Most people have no clue how large they are just as people away from Dallas area are shocked to find out North Texas is larger than Tx Tech is..

?? Does U of H count all locations??

The UH enrollment figures do not include UH Clear Lake and other campus enrollments. It does include the enrollment of professional programs such as law and optometry. If comparing apples to apples, UNT has a larger undergrad enrollment, a larger grad enrollment and no prefessional program enrollment. This is how U of H is still larger... but not for long...

I just heard a presentation by Dr. B. and she said UNT had just a bit over 35K students this semester. :clapping:

What does it matter how large our enrollment is?? We still cant get people at our events or to our games. So what, so we're 'bigger' than Tech, they are putting 3 times as many students in their stands at the games. I dont think I would try to brag about how big we are until we can match our attendence at our football games. Plus I'm sure they are including all the 'satallite' students that have never seen the campus. BIG WHOOP!

I would gladly have enrollment at 10K and average 40K at our football games. And lets face it higher enrollment doesn't mean more money, and esp. more money for our athletic program.

Disagree...the more the merrier and aren't non-stop 3'rd & 25 draw plays a thing of our past, too? It's a new era in Denton and some folks are calling it:

DodgeBall!

PS: Just wait till our defense catches up to what glimpses we've seen of our offense with even non-TDodge personnel.

Speaking of UofH, we need to get a home and home started with them ASAP. We're natural rivals, and that town still barely knows that we exist. The Chronicle's coverage of us is absolutely pitiful. It would be very beneficial for both parties to get something going.

As an FC Dallas fan, I can assure you you want nothing to do with Houston fans. They are mindless turds.
