If this was a scholastic conference then yes Rice would be in high demand. But as an athletic conference Rice has not upped their commitment to improving their athletics. Attendance is very poor. Their alums at sports are older than our alums,, lol. Their gym is great...for a high school conference.
I was excited when we joined CUSA and Rice was in it. I recall them from their SWC days. But they are a dying dinosaur of those days. Their baseball used to be really good (and they have baseball.. so extra points), but their football and basketball are usually average or below. They may suffer from high admission requirements for athletes, but there are many private schools in FBS that don't seem as consistently bad.
If they were smart they'd realize UT and A&M will have the same attendance regardless and fostering the other 11 FBS programs could provide a more lucrative economic impact to those 11 other cities. Same for the FCS programs. Games in Austin and College Station aren't feeding El Paso and Denton.
To add, maybe somebody in our AD needs to use that to entice local residents and their businesses to support the program more. How many restaurants would a full Apogee fill before and after games? Same for hotels, AirBnBs, etc...
That’s not an entirely accurate statement when our starting RB, Price, broke his leg in the second game of the season, the returning starter, Ragsdale, was a shell of his previous self and the back up, Harris, was injured and lost for the season as well.
You previously claimed that Morris got his top two RB’s to play for free. That is also inaccurate. I asked previously and got no answer, but what is your connection to the program? You seem to have an axe to grind.
The first 32 or so minutes of the game was the best ball we've played all year considering the opponent. When we were up 20 I was looking at USF's roster and stats to see if they were missing anyone big and they weren't.
We looked like the men at Memphis once they started the full court trap though. Ugly finish, but it's another W.
Now we've got defending conference champ Rice at home Wednesday night. Come on people, get to the Pit!
