OK boys and girls, let's try this again. (This time the RB position) I'm trying to list the names of former (and current) players of NT. Keep in mind, the position listed is what they were recruiting to NT to play. Kids will always be moved around. Some guys never made it to the practice field. I obviously can't remember (or research) all the names and/or the exact year in which they signed; so your input is vital. Why this exercise? Just for the hell of it! Please jump in with your additions, comments and corrections.

Todd Wageman RB 6-O 185 Springtown High 1989 If, I'm not mistaken, this young man never made it to campus. He died in a car accident in the spring or summer before he was to arrive at North Texas. He was pretty well thought of as a prospect as I recall.

Kevin Adkisson RB 1972....one of the Von Ericks.

From my 1978 pocket media guide.

In addition to Collins and Daniels, there is also Jeff Beard, 6'2" X 195, Houston Cypress Fairbanks HS who came in as a freshman recruit in the fall of 78.

Also on the team at that time (1978).

Marc Snyder, 5'4" X 158, soph, Highland Park. Rushed for 1801 yards for Highland Park, with an average of 8 yrds per carry. That would put him in the 76 recruiting class.

Fred Gordon (#24 on your program), 6'3" X234 FB, Oklahoma City, transferred to NT in the summer of 76 from St. Gregory's JC in Oklahoma, he was a DB at the Jr. College. He got into his first game in the Drake blow-out of 76. He gained 453 yards in 77 (5.5 average), while blocking for Michael Jones, who gained 940.

Fred Gordon was the starting FB in 78 when Bernard Jackson ran for what was then a record 1400 yards. It was one of the best FB/RB combinations that I've ever seen at North Texas.

Gordon was IMHO the best FB that we ever had at North Texas. Gordon was almost as much of a running threat as Jackson. And in addition to being a great blocker, he was a good receiver. Why he wasn't picked up by a pro team is beyond me.
