Our own Scrappy was involved in fisticuffs. It even has a Wikipedia entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_Atlantic_Owls

Owsley the Owl is the official mascot of Florida Atlantic. During a game in 2006 in Denton, TX versus the University of North Texas, Owsley and Scrappy got into a fight in which each mascot knocked off the costume head of the other. Local police separated the two and the student section began to chant "Scrap-py! Scrap-py!"

I remember watching the Scrappy fight. I was on the otherside of the track watching it all happen. The Owl knocked off Scrappy's head and Scrappy then knocked off the Owls in revenge. It was over but then the Owl knocked of Scrappy's head again and thats when things started taking off. The guys on Cannon Crew were getting ready to go over and take the Owl's head and throw it into our student section. Too bad they had just been seperated them on our way over.

It was either throwing it in the stands or running off with it. They'd never get it back if the students got hold of it; the poor head would be ripped to shreds and probably sold on eBay.

Here's how far back I remember: I remember the Baylor '03 game, where for some reason, they put away their regular mascot and brought out some walking inflatable bear thing. At one point that thing ended up upside-down and Scrappy went and tried to knock it on its back.

Edit- that Cougar took a beatdown.

Is there a youtube link for the Scrappy fight as well?

From the youtube comments supposedly the Cougar was a girl, which is not cool at all. Also, towards the end the Duck looks like he teabagged the Cougar at one point.

I was asking for a youtube link for the Scrappy fight, not the UH fight linked above :)

They probably would have gotten the head back.

Back when La.Tech's specialty was brawling (had four in one season and got more video entries than Miami in the NCAA's "emphasis video" on unsportsmanlike conduct) one of their players threw a helmet at an ASU player. It glanced off his shoulder pad and up into the stands on the student section. The students played keep away from the cops for a couple minutes until one made a break for the gate with it and was caught by the police. I figure if the guy had wanted the helmet he wouldn't have thrown it away.
