A Maverick is a stray calf or steer and has recently come to mean someone who is independant or a non-conformist. The Dallas Mavericks abandoned a cowboy hat in their logo and adopted a logo with a horse head. Your committee failed to live up to either definition in following the lead of an NBA team. Is red being abandoned and orange being substituted as a color? Why?

And you're saying people would get confused between Boise State and UTA? Give me a break.

If you just saw the new UTA logo on a sweat shirt walking past you at the mall - yes - some people would think that was Boise.

They are almost identical. It's even the same color scheme.!!!!!!

I can only imagine how much time was wasted finding the Huntingdon Hawk. Probably as much as we collectively have spent blasting it.

Besides the fact there are stylistic differences, I think the main point was that the UTA and Boise are roughly the same colors. Plus, the Boise one is a lot cooler. The same can not be said of Huntingdon relative to NT.

I was in Marshall in Jr High, and Marshall is the Mavericks and it is a young steer, and dictionary.com would support this. However, if you have a problem with the horse, I think you will have to bring that up with the Dallas basketball team too.

That is horrible. And since when did the U.S. Post office start playing NCAA Division I athletics?

Rick

I don't know, but they've won the same amount of games as we have.

Being from Denver... When I starting noticing Boise State's color choice and mascot, I thought it was a direct ripoff of Denver. I still think it is. Now UTA has the same colors as BSU and a similar logo.. my head is about to assplode.

It is mainly the color that will throw people off and assume the logo is for BSU and not UTA.

Marshall has a lot of problems with their mascot. I went to college there and was a football official for a while. I did a scrimmage for them one time and they had helmet stickers that looked just like longhorns. They were gone by the first game and replaced with a captial "M".
