Did anyone notice the seats at the SMU stadium? Concrete, right? Yet, when I was down at the consession stand and looked, it was a metal sub-structure seating. Probably not the correct term, but when everyone was stomping their feet above me, it sounded like a high school, metal seat stadium. Still, I did like Ford Stadium.

I think the lower section at Ford stadium is metal bench seats on concrete floor and the upper section is all metal.

Seats 45,300. Interesting thing is that I believe it was done from ground up in around 18 months.

Wikipedia: "Initially projected to have a cost of $40 to $45 million, the most recent cost estimations run as high as $65 million. Most of the seats are of the metal bleacher variety, causing some to criticize its spartan looks and no-frills construction in the era of nine-figure sporting venues. It has been designed for a planned expansion to 65,000 seats."

I guess I have no idea how much a new stadium really will cost, but to hear they spent $65 million on that thing is a little discouraging. I would have guessed they spent no more than 30 million on that thing. It is nice, but not as nice as I would expect for $65 million.

I love that stadium. We need something like that, with 40,000 instead of the amount they have,

Where's TTG when you need him?

Me? What am I needed for? Inappropriate humor? Greek indignation?

I'm a little busy this week with work and a trip to a friend's wedding this weekend. First time I've checked the board in 2 days.

Next time, use the GreekSignal. It's the giant spotlight atop Fouts Field that fills the sky with a Gyro shaped outline.

It is a nice stadium but after "the wait" I too want ours too look a bit different than a spruced up Fouts. I see those metal bleachers and it just reminds me of our empty endzones. The Wait sounds like a great movie title and the stadium issue has been every bit the drama it has felt like.

We need a really nice new stadium because remember this one might have to last 153 years! Even ghosts like good looking digs.

It's too aluminum and way too many endzone seats for my taste. Their endzone could have been single level and added a third section to the sideline without much difference in cost, but a big difference in revenue and fan seating.

The stadium costed $65 million but it did get Texas to play a game there. It may not be this beautiful stadium such as SMU's but I think they did a nice job and they built for the future in that it can expand to 65K seats.

Also with the $65 million did everybody take into account the price of the land and etc? No land in Florida is cheap and this is Orlando we are talking about here. Maybe that same stadium would be about $50 million in Denton.

All in all I think they did a great job and I look forward for NT having news like this really soon.
