If you're a G5 school and you have a high quality quarterback who has the potential to hit the portal and you believe you'll go bowling you have to start getting your back up reps during the season. And please don't come back with some BS about you don't want to impact your starting quarterbacks statistics or make him feel unappreciated by putting a backup in. Not blaming the kids who hit the portal for taking care of themselves but coaches need to start focusing their efforts on their program. I like one story they mentioned during the bowl game when they talked to Texas state's coach and he commented that his number one motivation was a picture of his family on his desk and that he was going to take care of them and that's why he could make the choices he does at times. So again for all those who talk about players having the right to do what's best for them and their families more coaches need to start protecting what is good for them and their families and make changes when needed.
Player misses a tackle. NT fan: that’s on the coaches.
Player misses a field goal. NT fan: that’s on the coaches.
Player fumbles: NT fan: that’s on the coaches.
Player commits a penalty: NT fan: that’s on the coaches.
Walk-on QB is our back up QB this season: NT fan: coaches don’t know what they’re doing; he couldn’t even start on his high school team.
Said walk-on has such a great game that the media is fawning over him: it’s the coaches fault he threw 2 interceptions and fumbled when he was being sacked because they were asking him to do too much.
Gotta love it.
I think the interior DL of Texas State had an incredible impact on our ability to run the ball. Those two interior fellas were MASSIVE. Surprised to see such large human beings playing at TX State AND excited to see Cassity bring us some big boys like that to UNT. Next year is going to be fun, I can't wait!
