I have been thinking about the 9 true freshmen that played in the OU game.

I know Vizza, Mosley, and Desoto, but who were the other 6 true freshmen

that played in the game?

Another question-

Looks like Coach Dodge wanted these true freshmen to get some real

D1 game experience, or are these true freshmen better players than

the current roster players?

Also- 15 new faces saw their first game action.

Does playing all of these new guys mean Coach Dodge is making a

"youth" movement throughout the year to gain experience or is

Coach Dodge trying to find out which players can play D1 ball now?

What do you guys think?

You want to get these young players some time during the first couple of games because it doesn't affect their ability to redshirt.

I am sure that's a reason that Coach Dodge stayed with the standard offense throughout the game instead of just trying to run out the clock. He wants some of these younger guys to get real game experience running their offense against top competition.

It was a gutsy call but it made the final score look uglier.

The 9 true freshman who played according to the official participation report on the UNT site (under "schedule/results") were: 1. BJ Lewis; 2. Giovanni Vizza; 3. Breece Johnson; 4. Sam Dibrell; 5. Kevin Ealey; 6. Thomas Moreland; 7. AJ Penson; 8. Jesse Desoto and 9. Micah Mosley.

A.J. Penson was in the game! Wow, that is interesting, considering all

the LB's that are available. I wanted the true WR's to play-I was hoping

Sam Roberson would play--maybe he will play this week at the $mu game.

I forgot the Moreland was a freshman also-he sure looked good nailing

the field goal!

Thanks for the information!

Moreland has a hell of a boot for an 18 yr old...

Take a peek at his recruiting website. It looks like he is already "comfortable" kicking at Ford...

I may be mistaken here, but I think if you play one snap you burn your "freshman" redshirt. Now, if you play a couple games and get hurt, you should be able to get a medical redshirt. Unless your name is Zach Muzzy.

I don't know the exact number, but redshirt eligibility is dependent on a percentage of the games you play in. I think it basically comes down to playing for a quarter or two of one game before you give up your eligibility to redshirt.

Agree...

A huddle offense eating up the clock could have chopped off about 21 or more Sooner points. Of course, it will always show up as a loss no matter the score differential.
