Why We Hate Smu

While at last years game..I was nauseated at 4 or 5 smoo boneheads prouldly doing the "cash beats trash" thing...made me sick...rivalry is one thing but that sucks.

I guess they lied because trash sent the cash home crying.

We can relax about SMU knowing what the true perception the rest of the world has of them.

Read into my comments what you want. Nothing I posted even hints at being envious of SMU. I'm concerned about your reading comprehension.

I've refrained from sharing this story for the past year, but in light of our butt whippin' this past weekend, I need to release some anger

I had NT season tickets for the 3 seasons before I moved up to CO this winter, and I always parked at the Wesley Foundation (Methodist student center) next to maple because I was involved there as a student and walked to the stadium. For the SMU game, I parked in my usual spot next to a Lexus SUV with a SMU sticker on the back. I had never seen this vehicle and figured it was the vehicle of an older SMU alum from the looks of the vehicle but didn't think much else about it otherwise.

Well, after we beat the Ponies proper, my soon to be wife and I went to Willis library because she had to check out a book and when we got back to my SUV, there were beer bottles strewn about on both sides of where this SMU SUV was parked. The was also a plastic bag laying right behind my back right tire. At first I sarcastically think, "Isn't that awesome...someone had some brews in the parking lot of the Methodist center!" So I picked up the plastic back behind my tire to use it to collect the bottles, when I was surprised and angered to find two empty bottles in the plastic bag lined up just perfectly so that my tire would have busted them (and probably put a hole in the tire). Needless to say, I was quite infuriated and wanted to kick someone's ass for this attempted high-schoolish prank.

Anyways, I got over it...but my opinion of SMU fans has been tarnished for good, although I don't hold it personally against SMU fans that are friends of mine.

Ahh...now I feel better!

We renewed our series with SMU back in 1974 (the first game since 1942).

We played the game at Texas Stadium and lost 6-7. The next Monday as I was walking past the Ad Min building I noticed that someone had spray-painted SMU on the columns at the entrance to the Ad Min building. The incident was covered in the Daily, and I think that the (then) SMU president apologized for the incident.

Hayden Fry had already publically stated that he wanted North Texas to join the SWC. But I remember thinking that if this is the kind of classless thing that is involved in being in the SWC, then I'm not sure I wanted North Texas to join.

--That may THEIR opinion.... I would never say that. A lot of them just want you to think they have money and try to live that way but really don't have much (I could name a few). Granted some really are wealthy but then my NT suite-mates were far from poor. One drove his moms' cast off Caddy and his father owned a construction company. His roomie owned a large ranch in Colorado and had a private air-plane.... Doubt that most SMU students could match either of them. I am not poor and a couple of SMU people I know around here are not even close, or as educated either.

As for the trash name... a person who treats others poorly is trash in my mind.... not their income level as long as they working and treating other people well.

---Multi-Millionairs out here laugh about being oil-field trash and don't necessarily always dress all that fancy or that clean at the momment. ....
