Coaches still rooting for Dodge

A mini survey of area coaches revealed compassion and support for North Texas coach Todd Dodge following a 79-10 loss to Oklahoma in his college debut.

After all, it was only nine months ago that Dodge was one of them.

"I hate it for Todd,'' said Cedar Hill coach Joey McGuire, "but Oklahoma has hung 70 on other people, too. It was just one of those deals. I'm rooting for him.''

While I did feel like we were back in I-AA while watching the last three quarters (yes, I watched the entire thing) of the OU game, I am confident in Coach Dodge's ability to turn the program around from the last couple of years.

I know that in five years, we will look back on last Saturday's game, much like we look back on the 2001 UL-Monroe debacle and what happened for four years after that, and say, "See how far we've come from that disaster???"

I was talking to a guy I work with this morning who went to aTm, and he said "Hey, they hung 70 on us not too long ago, that just happens." He's not a North Texas fan, but is rooting for us to improve.
