Well I got back into Denton at around 4am after being persauded by friends to go out to clubs that has constant ESPN coverage of the game. <_<

Just a few points.

The OU tailgating atmosphere was great, the people were super friendly, and OU girls are freakin hot....and wild, found that out later that night, at the bars...and kinda desperate for man love. but anyways

The game was nothing like I expected, OU scored early and often, I dont think Bob Stoops tried to run up the score, our team was really lagging in alot of areas. I thought we would lose 42-17, worst case scenario. Boy was I and everyone else wrong.

I keep mentioning this over and over again, Meager should not be our QB, he should not even be in the rotation, he has been given enough chances and is a major reason why our offense sputters. I saw this, firsthand in OU, why he is no different then last season. He comes out of every snap confused, unsure of what to do and disoriented, I mean he gives the ball to Jamario and doesnt let go, he takes too damn long with the ball, and cant execute any play that is given his way.

Our Defense was bad, I dont blame anyone but the Defensive Coordinator, Mendoza. If this continues, he should be the first one out the door, no excuse for what we saw at that game. This iis Division I football, not High School anymore. The score easily, trust me, easily could have been 100 or more during that game.

Positives:

Special Teams great job, really good job throughout the game. Everyone was impressed. The team did do alot better with penalties than last year, there were some but this is their first game. Todd Dodge really tried to win, you can see it with his play calls and play call reviews.

The fans really suported the team to the end, great attitude and expectations of what they wanted to see from our team. Our Dancers are so much hotter than theirs.

I wanted to save this for last, Vizza is going to be a great QB for our team, In my mind and alot of other people's minds, he should have been the starter. He renergized the entire offense with his presence and even the players seemed to respond to him alot better while he was on the field, oh yeah, he's only a freshman. Vizza willl be starting QB.

I mean we lost against OU, big deal, not the first time, we all knew it was going to happen. Let's concentrate on SMU, if we lose to SMU I will get so mad and frustrated. Let's bring a crowd to Ford stadium, it's up the road from where everyone lives, no excuses......

This was easily noticable on television. I would also add our cheerleaders to that comment.

Thank goodness we won something Saturday night!

Enough is enough!

For two days I have read the analysis of the game from "experts" on this board. Now it is time for this NONexpert to state my opinion.

If you watched the pregame warmups, you could have seen that OU had more speed than UNT has had in the past 8 years combined. While UNT had one or two players that could run, everyoneof the OU receivers and backs are "track star" fast. Our coaches can teach many things but speed is one thing that players are born with.

Our offensive line did an admirable job for the first quarter. After that, the heat and the size of the OU Defense began to wear us down.

Meager did fine. He was calling signals against what may prove to be the best defense in the NCAA. He was scrambling bacause the pocket was falling in around his ears. He threw several balls that were dropped and threaded the needle on several others. (The OU fans around me liked his moxy and said nice things about him.) Vizza did well but he made some freshman mistakes. He forced a couple of passes and those passes turned into scores for OU. He will be fine but he must be fed slowly.

As far as Defense, yes we gave up 79 points but 21 of those points can be directly attributed to offensive mistakes and not laid at the feet of the defensive coordinator. Our largest D-Lineman was outweighed by 100 pounds. One of our D-Backs was listed at 5'-10" but still gave away 8 inches and almost 100 lbs. to a tight end that runs 4.5. Come on, what could we do to stop that?

Give the coaches and players a break, we lost to one of the best teams in the nation.

Now, one last thing.

Was it necessary for OU to call a timeout with one minute left in the first half so they could throw one more touchdown pass? Was it necessary to blitz a freshman quarterback in the fourth quarter when the score is 77-0?

Thanks for reading my rant. Now lets BEAT SMU!!

Can we wait longer than one game to put anyone on the hotseat.

Could we have just a little patience? It's way too early (at least two years) for this kind of criticism. Let the staff establish their system and install their recruits before passing this kind of judgment.

Plus, the inescapable conclusion of this kind of thinking is that IF Coach Mendoza is not competent, THEN Coach Dodge is not competent to evaluate and hire a staff. Do you really believe that? For even a moment do you believe that?
