So, how does OU, knowing who the QB is now, game plan when the only video they have is him running around with a football on top of his helmet? This is an excellent decision by Dodge to keep the sooners guessing.

I'm pleased with this decision for purely football reasons and certainly not because I just got through making a Daniel Meager computer wallpaper (in eight sizes), avatar, and cell phone wallpaper (in seven sizes).

Well, I'm certainly glad to hear that you didn't overdo it....... :D

This is not highlighted to be negative, and anyone that knows me knows I am a Meager fan, BUT I don't think we have seen the last of Giovanni Vizza... this season

Ditto on the part about Vizza.

Well, there goes our surprise advantage over Ou. I'm sure the Ou coaches are now scrambling trying to find some DM game tape to change their whole defense with.

:D Now OU's defense can spend hours studying DM's tendencies, such as the one mentioned in this post by MeanMag.

I know exactly which picture you are speaking of and I'm glad I didn't take a drink of anything before I read that!! :D:D

Me, I am a bit surprised...with the delay, i assumed it would be Vizza and said so...but, I am not the head coach and I am not one of the best QB coaches going...Todd Dodge is! I am 100% behind this decision, and my congrats to DM for hanging in there and winning the nod. I would also agree that we have a great backup in Vizza, and I'll bet (with a little more confidence this time) that he will see a good bit of playing time THIS SEASON. I hope it's due to us being way ahead in games and not due to anything else. Go DM, GO TD and GO MEAN GREEN. You gotta love the excitement around UNT these days!

I knew Meager would pull it out.. he will be a totally different QB in a system that will play to his strengths.. He grew up running the spread offense, and knows it well.. Did anyone really expect him to prosper in Dickey's run first offense?? He didn't have a chance.. Meager will be good this season, I think anyone who saw the spring game saw signs of brillance.. Thats not to say that Vizza won't have his chance before this season is up, but for the mean time Meager is the best chance for us to win now and I'm glad Dodge saw it that way too...

If it's video of DD's offense they can study in detail how he hands the ball off on a draw play.

GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I suppose that's better than 'NT QB's Suck Beyond Belief'

Well, I'll be honest and say what I'm sure lots of people are thinking. I'm not too enthused with the decision at all. But, I guess there's a reason why I'm typing on a message board and the guy who makes these decisions is not. :D:ph34r:

Remember when Drew Bledsoe started the first Cowboy's game last year even though Parcells was already trying to figure out how to rationalize putting Romo on the field?

just sayin'....

I'll cheer for whoever is back there - unless it's Playmaker. Then I'll just golf clap politely while covering myself in baby oil.

How much of the has to do with not putting a true Freshman in front of one of the best D's in football???
Everything.

I think Dodge2007 has changed his handle or taken over Keith7's brain.

We all know you're running the "reverse psychology" thing on us and love the hell out of Meager.

We should start calling you Moner. :o

Dodge 2007 is a prophet the likes we've never seen before.

Well Green Lantern, I have been called a lot of things by Emmitt, Rick, and others but definitely NOT A PROPHET??????????

No way Dodge was going to take Giovanni or anyother freshman and have him take a beating like Meager is going to get against OU. Meager better be one tough SOB. Meager was the obvious choice...........it just wasn't the popular choice and I took my lumps like a man for stating the obvious decision that Dodge was going to make.

I will even go further with my "Crystal Ball"........based on what I have seen after several practices and the last scrimmage, that I snuck in and watched, Daniel will not hold onto that position the entire season. NO WAY!

That freshman kid is the real deal. In fact, I think Dodge knows exactly what he is doing.....that OU is no place to start a 18 year old kid regardless of his talent. Smart decision for the long run. I believe now that Dodge knows exactly what he is doing. He would have broken the spirit and heart of Meager by not naming him the starter. Wise decision by TD.

I wish Daniel well and have felt he would flourish in this offense, and he still might, but after witnessing first hand, Vizza is the obvious QB of the future (including when Riley shows up on campus.) The freshman has the entire respect of that team in two weeks...that is unheard of for a freshman. Just ask the others on the team, they will say the same.

I'm actually ok with Meager starting. He's shone through the practices in both the Spring and Fall. He's been in an offense similar to this one back in high school, and he's played with most of the other 10 guys out there.

No argument here with that statement. Whether or not he is the real deal, OU is no place to start a TRUE (not redshirt) freshman at QB. I don't know many coaches in the US who would do that to an 18 year old.

That being said, I wish Daniel the best and hope that he dazzles us all.

I am excited for Daniel and his entire family, which are all big Mean Green fans! He has fought through some serious injuries going back to high school when he was in grand demand before his injury. I think he will do GRAND!

And, G.V. will continue to learn and get better as well....

And, in the spirit of our GRAND University.... Go Mean Green!!!!!!!!!!!!

See Y'all in Norman!!!!!

I've never read something more true.

Yes it is news because we didn't know, but I'm not surprised at all and I don't think anyone else should be. I'm all for throwing a frosh QB into the fire, but the fire of the SBC is much different than the fire of Norman and one of the best defenses in the country. DM has dealt with that before and will be less prone to mistakes IMO. Granted I haven't seen one practice, but from what I've read and heard it's only a matter of time before GV is starting. Frankly I'm glad TD made this decision at this point. It's smart.

Well now I'm almost certain I know which Goodwill Industry Outlet my old donated Magic 8 Ball ended up in. Denton!

Again, best of luck to DM. He deserves this shot and I hope he is successful.

Why the constant beef with Dodge2007 from FFR and emmitt? It almost appears as if he pissed off the public servants of the board, but I don't recall any comments that would lead to this. He stated from the start what he thought would happen, appeared to have access to knowledge that many of us don't and turned out to be right. Why continue to badger him/her? I know emmitt was a WW fan, but he has left the team and is no longer a part of the MG Nation. I also wish WW the best of luck.

Again, seems Dodge2007 was right from the start. Give em' a little credit.

You are not the only one that is not too enthused with the decision. I myself, am not too excited either. I will support him because he is at the present, the leader of the team per say, but I don't see him staying in there the whole season.
