I would love to see PC make the club, and I don't mean to rain on the parade, but the source of this "story" is a blog, albeit written by one of the beat reporters. There is a comment underneath the blog where the reporter's ability to read the depth chart correctly is challenged, so it is possible he is misreading it:

You’ve been reading the depth chart wrong. This caused a bit of confusion with the first release. The spacing may look like there is only a first string, second string, and third string, but that is not how it should be read. You are meant to read the thing from left to right, then down to the next row, and from left to right again. Patrick Cobbs is, in actuality, the fourth string runningback.

If you go to the following link, you can see it much more clearly:

http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/team/depth_chart.asp

The depth chart shown on the link lists Patrick as the fourth-string running back, although it is from 8/6/07, which was before last Saturday's game. Here's hoping Patrick can make a bigger impression on everyone in Thursday's game against the Chiefs.

I don't think that he should be considered a rookie. He played in three NFL games on special teams last year so I believe that should make him a second year player.

Jesse Chatman and Patrick Cobbs — not Lorenzo Booker — are again listed as the second-team running backs. Rex Hadnot and L.J. Shelton are also still backups.

The team can't afford to make him #2 with a third round pick in the mix. I love PC, but if he stays in MIA it is on the practice squad. He needs a better situation - here's he hoping he keeps showing off the next few weeks and latches on somewhere that has a real spot.

He can be #2 even with a 3rd round pick behind him but he has to clearly win the job if its close he’s out. I think he’s shown enough to make the team regardless but if he’s not #2 I wouldn’t mind seeing him somewhere else getting more pt.

Arkansas State alum Cleo Lemon still listed as co-starter at QB!

If any of you saw the Ravens/Eagles game, Barnes from FIU was playin very tough. Also, the safety from UL-Monroe, Payne that plays for Chicago had a interception go right through his hands. I wish he'd have made the play. I always root for the Sun Belt boys.
