I actually think Federer will take Sampas' record of 14 Grand slams first. He is at 11 right now, so by the end of US Open 08 he could hold the record outright.

but to answer your immediate question, tiger will break the golf record a couple of years before A-Rod breaks bonds record.

I'm thinking this will be the one to fall too. Though I believe Federer's days of winning 3 a year are soon to be over. In fact I don't think he'll win the US Open this go round. I see him passing Sampras in '09.
