Practice notes

The Denton Record-Chronicle will have a story tomorrow detailing UNT's first full day of practice in pads and what to expect in tomorrow's workout. UNT's schedule said the Mean Green would scrimmage on Saturday, but head coach Todd Dodge characterized the workout as just another practice that will involve more 11-on-11 drills and work on the kicking game.

Until then, the following are a few notes:

Dodge said after practice that he expects to have quarterback Woody Wilson and slot receiver Korey Washington back in a few days after they finish up summer school. Neither will be on the field for today's practice.

UNT's coaches are taking a long look at College of San Mateo defensive back Evyn Roman as a punt and kick returner

Running back Deavin Cox wore shorts during the Mean Green's first practice in full pads on Friday, but is expected to practice today.

Running back Jamario Thomas broke off a 52-yard touchdown run during team drills.

Quarterback Giovanni Vizza had his best day of fall practice. The freshman connected on a deep pass to wide receiver Brandon Jackson and also displayed his ability as a runner.

Head coach Todd Dodge cut practice short for the first time in fall camp.

KOREY WASHINGTON could be a big player that is going under the radar early in the season. I think he could be HUGE at one of the slot WR spots. The kid can fly and is one hell of an athlete.
