Green Means Go! Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) I was only out there about an hour, and our guys weren't in pads---so you can only tell so much.1) I didn't see Woody working with the QBs. The qbs were Tune, Vizza, Meager, Phillips and someone wearing #16. Don't know if Woody has moved to another position or not. 2) We have several guys with the same number, so I presume that will change once the season starts. For example, Meager and LB A.J. Penson are both #7. (Penson is in green though for D, whil Meager is in white for the offense).3) It looked the first group at O-line, were Menard (LT); Tyler Bailey (LG); Rose ©; Santiago (RG); and one other. (Carlson?) (Peachey?) Sorry, I can't be more precise......on that. And, I assume that was the first unit, since they were working with Meager.4) One of the freshmen WRs that stood out to me: Sam Roberson from Somerville. But, they all looked talented. 5) Vizza looked good. But when I was there, the QBs were just throwing to WRS. So, it's hard to look bad, when there's no D. 6) I think we have added a lot of team speed.7) Can't wait until Evan Fentriss is eligible.I was only there until about 4:40....others may have more info from later in practice. Dodge2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) Thanks for the report, GMG. We all appreciate that. I am still waiting to hear back from some of the elder statesman. #16 must have been the Johnson kid (smu QB transfer) Edited August 7, 2007 by Dodge2007
Green Means Go! Posted August 7, 2007 Author Report Posted August 7, 2007 #66 is a big o lineman...probably the tallest one out there. I was wondering if he's that late signee from Pennsylvania. He and Evyn Roman (?) are neither one in the media guide, since they signed late. Evyn will be wearing #37........I do know that.
Dodge2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) Hey GMG, where was Woody? Was he not throwing with the recievers? What caught your attention about Roberson at WR? Edited August 7, 2007 by Dodge2007
FirefightnRick Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Hey GMG, where was Woody? Was he not throwing with the recievers? What caught your attention about Roberson at WR?Hey Dodge2007, I'm wondering if you could drop the BIG EYE you have on Woody and leave it alone for now? You know damn good and well he's not been up there as often as we would like and you've made that clear enough now, you've tried over and over again to stick it in Emmitt's ass about it, you've had your fun about it. Now how about we leave it alone and wait until we get official word about what happens with him?Rick

FirefightnRick Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) I am still waiting to hear back from some of the elder statesman. And by the way, just an FYI. I know your new here and just by guessing, your still in school? And it will surely take you a few years to get to know the others on this board, and I certainly hope you do. But I'm not sure what constitutes as "elder", but you should know that "Green Means Go" has been one of North Texas' greatest "statesmen" since before you were a drop in your Daddy's shorts.Rick Edited August 7, 2007 by FirefightnRick
Dodge2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) When I say elder statesman, I am talking about actual players who are juniors and seniors.......actual players who are in the mix and know what is truly going on.I like to hear what is going on inside the program from the guys WHO LIVE the program. My appologies to Emmitt, Woody, and anyone else for speaking the truth. For myself, I like to hear FACTS from board admins who do the research and interviews for our viewing, and from those players and players parents I know personally who are also living the program and who post on this board.Rick Edited August 7, 2007 by FirefightnRick

The best choice for QB will emerge if we let it. P.S. I wouldn't go around talk'n smack on the board until you learn who the heavy hitters are. I have been on this board several years and don't even have a 1,000 posts. It's OK to not comment on everything.
Dodge2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Rick,I haven't speculated on Woody at all. What I have stated is fact. I like Woody, he is a cool guy. He just won't be playing QB that is all I have said. If you want to call that speculation, then do so. If you want to call what I said about him during the summer workouts speculation, then call it that way. I just talk facts.

Dodge2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Rick,I am not going to argue with you on this. I already have Emmitt on my butt. I'll go with you........but be a big enough man to come back on the board at the whenever you feel like the appropriate time is that my so called speculation becomes reality.
UNTFan23 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 I'd watch out, FFR has been escorted out of Fouts for throwing foreign objects. FFR is also a firefighter, so try not to look surprised when you see your car covered in fire suppression foam one day. He also hangs out with GreyEagle who is known for throwing it down with assistant coaches.
mad dog Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Make sure we're keeping things civil, gentlemen. The practice report was pretty good, so let's not lock down an otherwise decent talking thread.
FirefightnRick Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) Rick,I haven't speculated on Woody at all.hmmmm, REALLY?The question remains why did Meager flourish during the spring and WW not. Was it all because of WW missing some practice? I think not.I don't know Sherlock, was it from him missing practice or not? I want to know, for sure, not what you speculate or think?Nothing personal Emmitt, I just believe WW should have WANTED to be there this summer. So you know WW well enough to know for sure, not speculating, that he DID NOT want to be there this summer?WW missing spring to me killed his credibility with TD.So TD now discusses his oppinions on credibility of character of his players with you?I do know that WW has not been to voluntary workouts but just on occasions............I asked two different kids who DON'T PLAY QB and they both said he doesn't do much. I think he realizes the writing is on the wall, imo.So he's "seen the writing on the wall" and he's just apparantly given up, or again are you speculating? Do you know this for sure? If you don't know for sure your spreading some pretty sorry rumors about a player that MOST of us here greatly respect for among other things, turning down Arkansas to come here and make a go of it at North Texas. A player that MOST of us respect for battling through the hell that it must have been like to play for Ramone Flanigan, and still managed to show a lot of amazing skill and having some success against the likes of Texas in front of 80K fans and SMU...all for the sake of North Texas. And I hate to break it to you but guess what, your not the only one that can ask someone on the team who's been showing up for voluntary work outs, but your the classless one who's enjoyed reporting it to the world here on a public message board. Personally, I don't care how often he's been here this summer because with me the man has earned my respect and your running him down to simply dig at another guy here on this board who you also know nothing about. But I'm sure glad you never speculate about WW.By the way, concerning your comment about me "manning up" here on this board. I don't believe I've ever stated who will win the QB job or not, but my money's on DM simply based on skill and more experience at this level. But I'd be happy to talk to WW himself about some of these issues, face to face in fact, as long as your standing right there beside me. I'd be happy to introduce you two and let him know how you've incenuated to everyone how poor his work ethic is, how little he cares to work on his passing, how he's a "one play wonder", how he doesn't have the "intangibles" to lead this team, how he's lost credibility with TD during the spring for not showing up(he missed SOME practices due to class and still showed us why he's here during the spring game), how you have painted him as a no show this summer. Hell, everyone knows who I am, there's no where for me to hide, but who are you? We'll go talk to him, you and me, it's a date, ok?My greatest concern with you is that, as an anonymous poster claiming to have "inside knowledge", who's to say you won't make similar SPECULATING accusations about Vizza or 'gasp', Riley Dodge in the future?Rick Edited August 7, 2007 by FirefightnRick
risinggreen Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Yeah, to tell you the truth anyone that would use our new head coaches name as a handle is pretty damn questionable to me unless his name is Todd or Riley. Let's give it some time before we speculate on who will and won't be our QB this year OR next. Hell, practice just started! Let's wait and see!!
UNT_92_Fan Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) 2007,This battle of NT wit and wisdom you are involved in is much like a boxing match between Ali in his prime versus the "have you seen my baseball" guy from theres something about Mary... you haven't earned credibility bro...so in the words of the GREAT brother of Rangers Prospect Blake Bevin....Don't be a dush* bag....<3,UNT_92_Fan*if you know this ticket reference please stick up for me as I am assuming my lack of spelling douche correctly will be the next attacking point from one Dodge2007 Edited August 7, 2007 by UNT_92_Fan

However, anyone sporting a tatoo of Texas on his arm would certainly have the capability.
