This doesn't look like it's intended to be corporate headquarters or even predominantly offices. It looks like it's going to be another huge unsightly warehouse distribution park. Maintaining asthetics is seldom a concern because they don't serve the pubic directly. Of course they serve a purpose, but so does a washing machine and you don't stick it on your front porch.

What route will these hundreds of 18 wheelers take to get from Airport Road onto I-35 to Dallas? Be careful what we applaud.

I hope Denton can get an actual office park to move into that area. It is directly between a major university and what is becoming one of the busier airports for business owned aircraft. Golf course based communities have also been planned further out Airport Road, this warehouse park would likely alter those plans.

The south side of the Razyor Ranch development has a large office park component to it.

You do realize Peterbilt is at that same location, right? They don't seem to have any problem moving 18-wheelers in and out of there. And the fact that it's being planned at 35E/35W, HWY 380, freight rail, and an airport makes it a perfect location for this type of development.

I35 and I-30 meet right near downtown Dallas and there are dozens of these types of facilities within 2 miles of CBT.

The proposed park also will have a major thoroughfare built through it, with the construction of Western Boulevard to start this fall, Ratliff said.

Any economic growth in denton should be welcomed, especially one this ambitious.

Who knows? Maybe even the developer. If Newton Rayzor were still alive, I would almost bet that he would make a large enough contribution to have the stadium named for him. Newton, along with Rex Cauble were the first sources of 'big' money that Hayden Fry tapped wehn he came to Denton. Newton Rayzor had a great interest in North Athletics but I don't know about his family.

We also don't know the interests of the companies that will locate there. For instance, the parent company of Peterbilt mad a large contribution but it went to the College of Engineering.

Our student population was about 17K when I was attending North Texas (mid- 70's) and the average home attendance was about 12K per game. Our current student population is now approaching twice that number and are we now averaging 24K per game?

I wish we averaged 24k. Our average attendance last year was 15650.

I don't' know if that is a fair statement. Lots of things happened to explain this math. First is the drop to 1aa, of course the great Hayden Fry of that time had the attendance up at the time. The attitude of the administration in 80's and 90's toward football and all athletics, the lack of a involved coach for marketing the football team, teams we scheduled at home and so on. But with the larger student body and the growth of the town should make TD and RV's jobs easier. Plus the administration really seems to be shifting to a "Big School" attitude verses what has been called the "old Nesters" . Yes I believe everything is coming together finally for North Texas to move to a whole new level of attendance and product on the football field.

I wasn't here nor alive in the 70’s but I’d have to assume the school had a much better since of tradition and respect for the football program under Hayden Fry. The step down to D1-AA in the 80’s made it uncool to even care about the football team and that persisted until I got here in the late 90’s and to some extent even through the bowl years. Everyone has just been used to losing and being irrelevant for so long they forgot how important it is to support you school. But I’ve never seen a buzz like this before and think a new exciting offense and stringing a few wins together will get the school will get behind us. I saw it through the bowl years by the third and forth seasons freshmen came in looking forward to going to games because they thought we may be going somewhere. And before I left Denton I saw a big shift in the demographic I feel as the population went up the gap between art majors who really don’t care too much about athletics and the general student body started to lean in our favor. Let Todge do his thing and start winning some games and as the new people move in they’ll see the excitement around the program and want to jump on board.

Bill, Denton County also grew from about 99,000 during the mid-70's to almost 600,000 today, and for whatever the reason(s), we still have yet to capture the imagination of all the newcomers that created a boom population explosion in our alma mater's home county. We need to all hope that these 2 words, ie, "Dodge Ball" will not be our sole promotions efforts for this and future football seasons in Mean Green Country.

Nothing earth-shattering with this revelation, but UNT is located in a metropolitan area (6'th largest in the USA?) and we (still) need to craft our athletic promotions program with that cold, stark & harsh reality. TCU has done a decent job in promotions, but the best thing they've done (unlike their own past football history in the NCAA's modern times) is aim their football program toward annual Top 25 rankings and have had some success by doing that.
