Other Athletic Center Donors

Ran across the names of some donors to the Athletic Center in addition to Jim McIngvale and Terry Don Parks. The amounts that they donated were, as has been reported, $1 million and $380 thousand, respectively.

The Athletic Director's Office will be named for Denny & Connie Kalk. Most of us know Denny who is a member (Mo Green) and occasional poster on this board. Denny and Connie are fantastic fans who come up from San Antonio for every game. Their gift was $100,000.

Another $100,000 donation for the Head Football Coach's Suite was made by Steve Goodman. I'm not sure who this donor is; there are several Steve Goodman's floating around in my head.

The Head Football Coach's Office will be named for legendary Texas high school football coach G.A. Moore. His $83,000 donation garnered that honor. G.A. is from Pilot Point and a member of the North Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

The Football Meeting Room received a gift of $250,000 from Don Buchholz. Mr. Buchholz is from Garland and former founder and head of Southwest Securities. He has donated several million dollars to his alma mater.

These donations were made last year when there was some hostility toward the athletic department. Shouldn't donations be more plentiful this year now that everyone is more enthusiastic?

Steve Goodman, NT alum, home builder: Goodman Homes.

I've said all along that people gravitate to excellence. Once the university started acting like a division one program, we are beginning to attract money. The sky is the limit with our alumni base. I look for more large donations in the near future. People want to get involved if they know that the university is serious.

Duly impressed...

Another urban tale that some of the old-theimer Southwest Conference traditionalists are going to have to "get over it" is that UNT has no money people out there.

FWIW..............we have still only touched the tip of the ice berg from what reliable sources have told several of us.
