Football is here... well atleast in videogame form. Today ALL PRO FOOTBALL 2K8 and NCAA Football 2008 hit stores. Well I gave Best Buy my money for both games and have played both of them about 2 hours a piece today. I know alot of you here are interested in them... here is my rundown on both of them. This is on the PS3

NCAA feels like more of the same... every year I hope for a complete redesign. The gameplay this yr is practically the same except for the game being much more fluid. In short, the game seems to have no soul. I just cannot get into it, hopefully as I put more time into it.... it will grow on me. The one thing I want to really say about NCAA is that it is as smooth as butter... no stutters in the gameplay, no dips in framerate, etc. I find this to be a very polished and well developed, just not that fun... it just seems like more of the same from EA.

Now some of you are probably thinking what the hell is ALL PRO Football 2K8... well, I thought the same way till last week. All Pro Football 2k8 is developed by Visual Concepts the creators of the past NFL 2K football videogame franchise. NFL 2K5 was the last game as EA Sports bought the rights to the NFL in videogame form. Basically the game is based on creating a fictional team in a fictional stadium with over 240 of the greatest players to ever play in the NFL. All the big names are here... except Mean Joe Greene, hopefully next yr. My first thought as soon as I loaded up the game can only be described as "corny and pretty damn cool". As I play over the next couple of hours I am refreshed their is finally a new football game in town and my first impressions turned from "corny and cool" to "wow this is so much damn fun, will I put NCAA back in?". The gameplay is just plain fun. Seeing Earl Campbell and Joe Montana in the same backfield is different to say the least. Sure playing no name teams and not having NFL logos and the like will at first be alittle strange, but I came to realize this game is about football. This is how football should feel in videogame form.

I am just so happy we have another football videogame in town again... If you like the NFL 2K football series you will love ALL PRO FOOTBALL 2K8.

If you hate the idea of playing no name teams in fictional stadiums... I say to you, try it... give it 2hrs and let me know which game is more fun. Fun is the deciding factor here and ALL PRO FOOTBALL 2K8 in my opinion is the champ of football videogames this yr... so far.

Question:

Is NCAA 08 4 player? I tried doing some reasearch and found none.

The reason I ask is because I have NCAA 07 which says it's 2 players, but when all controllers are turned on while starting the game it shows 4 controllers on the game like all you would have to do is move them to their respective sides.

Any help, thanks.

If this is truly the swansong of the current gen video games, I think NCAA 08 is a fitting end. The game is just fantastic. I've played three games (SMU, SMU, and FAU), and all three have been back and forth greatness. You'll find the running game is VERY difficult, and the deep ball is not nearly as money as it was in past iterations. Anyone can be an impact player if you feed them the ball enough and have success, and momentum has been toned down.

SMU, round one came down to the final play, a 3rd and goal from the 3 with 1 second on the clock. The ball was initially caught by the wr, but Dom Green jarred it loose. (Willis was knocked out for 7 weeks with a broken jaw courtesy of Jeremiah Chapman). Round two I lost by two touchdowns. Willis really made the difference in the game. If you don't account for scrambling QBs, they'll kill you. FAU was tough until the 3rd quarter.

Video-game publisher Take-Two Interactive has done it again.

The company, which has come under fire in the past for offensive content in its games, is now testing the taste barrier with its latest sports video game, All-Pro Football 2K8, which features O.J. Simpson, unquestionably America's most infamous athlete.

A game trailer on the Game Trailers Web site shows Simpson game highlights as his team, "The Assassins," moves down the field. Toward the end of the clip, Simpson scores a touchdown, prompting a large hooded mascot (above) above the scoreboard to make stabbing motions with a large knife.

Game Trailers, a division of Viacom's MTV Networks, publishes video game trailers, previews, reviews from all publishers. Take-Two doesn't dispute that the Simpson clip represents the game's contents. While the decision of Take-Two's 2K Sports label to include Simpson in the game, despite his past, could possibly be defended, considering his place in football history, it's unclear why the company would use a mascot that tries to play on Simpson's notoriety as the accused in the 1994 murder of his former wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman.

I am very impressed with NCAA. My first game was UNT @ OU, on heisman, with out playing any before, and I lost 54-3. I actually had fun losing by that much. Next game @ SMU I bumped the difficulty down to all-american. I lost 27-23.

The gameplay is a lot more realistic, and they have taken a step forward in this years addition, specifically with recruiting, which you couldn't really say since NCAA 2004.

We sure have come a long way.

It was an honor to be on the same field.

What do you expect? Quoner is a legend, I am just a beginner at this forum tongue lashing.

Wow, I almost feel bad screwing with you to amuse myself because you gave me a new sig.

The only other place I've been called a legend was the Motel 6 just south of Buffalo...

Of course, the news site that ran that OJ story didn't spell out the whole thing. At first, no one is on a team. OJ could be on the Assassins, or he could be on another team. That Game Trailer site set out to put him on the Assassins, make him score a TD, and have the celebration. It wasn't Take 2 going too far, but instead the Game Trailer site setting out to make that video as some sort of joke. Don't baste Take 2 for having a team with what looks like a Scream reject for its mascot.
