I keep looking for your photo on the meangreensports.com site and have yet to see it under "coaches".

Uh oh... you can insult emmitt's mom, you can trash his wife, but talk about Woody...

I have a hunch that we will all be unbelievably surprised with "The Godfather" this season. I predict he takes over about a half of the way into the season, if not sooner, and starts for the next 4 years. Rodge will redshirt, get bigger and stronger, sit for a year or two and then take over after Vizza graduates.

TD stated that he wanted to sign one quarterback, then he went after Vizza and got him to decomit from Nevada. Beleive that TD knows quite a bit about Vizza and his ability to run our new offense. Vizza could surprise a bunch of folks THIS season.

My opinion isn't worth anything. I know that and you know that. THIS IS a freakin message board to strike ideas and thoughts

I don't mind your predictions/ideas, but I also wouldn't mind a little bit more explanation regarding your predictions. Most of the time you just say something pretty darn bold and leave us hanging as to why you believe such things.

So let's simplify it just a bit. Let's say TD had the opportunity to sign Vince Young or perhaps the next Vince Young in Terrell Pryor, a Rivals five-star, 6'6", 220 lbs, dual-threat QB that runs a 4.4 40 and has a 3.4 GPA?? Do I really have to answer that question?? I think even DD would know the answer to that one.

I'm not the least bit worried about the notion that signing Riley Dodge would somehow limit our QB prospects in future recruiting classes. In fact, I think it will have the opposite effect, IF Riley or Vizza is as successful at UNT as either of them was in high school. Why?? Because every HS QB wants to be given the best opportunity to be successful at the next level and showcase their talents. Seeing a successful QB at UNT will only make more quality QBs want to come to UNT to savor some of that same success. Jevan Snead and Ryan Perilloux aside, most good athletes believe they are the best and look forward to proving that fact to their peers and coaches. One of the state of Texas' top QB recruits for 2007 is G.J. Kinne. Knowing Colt McCoy is a Sophomore and firmly establised as UT's starting QB, he still chose to go to UT over Baylor, where is father is the LB coach and where he possibly could have vied for playing time this year.

Now, I don't think we'll actively recruit another QB for the 2008 recruting class (becuase we have other needs) but I certainly don't think TD is going to turn away quality QBs because he doesn't want the to put the pressure of competition on Riley.

Good post. Todd Dodge is going to recruit good players. If he thinks he can sign a top QB he will. He knows football and how kids get hurt or don't work out at the next level and he will recruit the best he can.

Good point and noted.

Coach Dodge was quoted as saying, "If we had the full time to recruit a QB in our first class, Vizza would be our guy no matter what. He fits our system very well, and is exactly who we need to run our offense."

Sure there are probably more talented QB prospects out there, however, NT is in a unique situation where they have to recruit "System QB's" over the top prospects at the position. Dodge did ink the Texas 4A Player of the Year, and has the reigning Texas 5A Player of the Year committed for next year and both are Quarterbacks.

I think Dodge has a good start on future QBs and WRs, now we need to look for more OLs and DLs.
