Governor gets hoax arrest warning

Police say Perry, others received fake notices

07:40 AM CDT on Saturday, July 7, 2007

By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer

Gov. Rick Perry isn’t a Denton citation scofflaw, but he recently received a notice purportedly from the police that a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

So did the Carrollton city manager, a Lewisville city official, a Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce member, and no one knows how many others.

Someone replicated a postcard the city sends to people who have outstanding warrants through city court, put it into a letter format and placed an unknown number of them in the mail.

City officials are not amused at the hoax.
