I've always supported BB , but now I can no more. Did he use roids ??? Probably , but so did 100s of other baseball players , so you can't just single him out. Has the media been unfair in criticizing him over the past few years , Yes , but he brought some of that on himself.

He has a chance to be in the Home Run Derby in his own park during All Star weekend. He says No , citing he is his own man and can choose not too. True , but for one night , call a truce w/ the media , fans and the rest of the baseball world and participate in the funnest night the sport has to offer. You have every right to get booed from here on out now , I don't care and now I'm one of those booers!!

Berry is battling age and injury so I guess if I were in that situation I would not join in the Derby. I think Griffey has the same type problems.

The only knock I ever had against Griffey was he is often injured...and not some small 1-2 day injury. I'm talking injury that puts him out for half a season.

Otherwise, Ken Griffey is a class guy.

I guess it isn't so bad that Bonds used steroids. It is that he denies it when he OBVOUSLY has. McGwire used steroids, admitted to it (he used some cream that was legal at the time) and there is no one bagging on him much.

I think if Barry had said right off "yea I used steroids" people might be a little more receptive toward his record.

Aaron has snubbed Berry. Will not attend the game when he breaks the record. Same with Seilig. THAT is a MAJOR snub.

If his record has an asterisk, then does every single at bat, pitch, and play recorded in whatever years the steroids era is determined to be get an asterisk as well? More pitchers have tested positive for steroids than batters. Bonds was probably on them, but so were many of the guys he homered off of. There is no way to go back and adjust the stats, it is impossible. It will just go down as an exciting at the time, but ultimately embarrassing era in baseball history.

I have no problem with that. The same way they took the asterisk off Maris for hitting 62 HR though he had 5 more games to get the record. You can't put a bunch of asterisks in the record book.

Still doesn't mean I have to like that Bonds lies to everyone and think he has everyone fooled. He went from a slap leadoff hitter as a rookie to a hulking homerun hitter in about a season. You don't get that way without "help." That arguement McGwire put forth "Steroids doesn't help you hit the ball" is just crap. Steroids just help you hit the ball farther.

And of all the players at the center of the steroid era, the LAST person who needed steroids was Mark McGwire. Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Raphiel Palmero were all skinny leadoff hitters who bulked up in one offseason to become homerun hitters. McGwire was ALREADY a homerun hitter (remember The Bash Brothers from Oakland in McGwire and Canseco's rookie year?).

MLB ownership/management/commissionership were about 15 years behind on the steroids problem. NFL had already banned steroid use and made it part of the collective barganing agreement. MLB still has not put a salary cap in place to even the playing field for all teams.
