Their second "co-championship" known as a conference championship to them kinda goes to their head and they seem to enjoy running their mouth about the Mean Green

yeah, but the earliest public commitment to MT under the previous regime, IIRC, was in October.

It'll be interesting to see if these guys stick. They may very well, but they could also be grabbing at an offer, while still taking visits, hoping the offers from unt boosts their stock with more attractive programs say like smu or latech...

Notable 1A coaching debuts feature Sun Belt against Sooners, Gators, Lions Reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

they are gonna air it out with meager and will put up about 20-25 picks. I'm predicting 25 picks for meager this season or whoever takes over at QB. As a whole. NT's offense throws at least 25 -30 picks this season. His high school ran that spread with good athletes. the difference is that the competition in HS is farther apart than in college. His HS team probably was the most stacked in their division. So they ran an offense that the comp's D wasn't trained or staffed to stop. That won't be the case in college ball and NT fans know it. They crap on themselves this year, and those recruits are going elsewhere. That's the bottom line.

co-title or not, 35-0 in Denton and they can run their mouths all they want.

But those are pretty crazy things they're saying about our upcoming season. I guess they didn't see that stacked HS team in any of the title games. Westlake looked HUGE on the lines against the Dragons.

I think we'll surprise some of our opposition this year.

You are getting a lot of whistling in the dark by NT rivals. They don't know what to make of all these early commits so they are hoping that the players won't stick or that TD is busy offering fringe players. By the way if they think SLC record is based on physical superiority, they obviously know nothing about Texas football. The Muts last year were a more fired up and better team than NT, I don't think either will be true in 2007. Let them talk, DD was a very crummy recruiter and yet won 4 championships. I can't wait to see what TD does to the Belt.

Posted

They can talk trash all the way until gameday...or at least until TD puts up his first big win. They got 35-0 on our team last fall, simple as that.

But, we got a new coach with a new program. It could possibly be 35-0 on their team this fall. Dodge is an entirely different species of coach than Dickey, and his staff is an entirely different species of coaching staff than Dickey's. They don't know what they're up against, just like everyone else on the schedule.

Tennessee HS Football versus....................... Texas High School Football?

IT'S APPLES ............................. & ......................... ORANGES DIFFERENCE!

(And when Hollywood decides to produce a movie about HS football, just which U.S. state do they take their own experts advice as to who has the best high school football in the entire USA)?:)

Interesting theory... but I guess Tennessee hillbillies aren't aware of the competition in Texas high school football, or the fact that there is a huge tournament at the end of the season... or that SLC was declared National Champs by ESPN. Dodge's SLC teams have gone up against the best in Texas many times.

The muts claim the North Texsa fans trash their school on all the SBC boards.

The muts trash anything and everthing about North Texas-

Well, the muts also trash the Troy fans on thier own board. This time, the muts

took nasty pot shots at the Troy Rodeo team. Now, the muts are trashing the

true all american sport- Rodeo! Nothing is off limits to the $mu-ish muts.

Boy, they have watch dogs checking all the boards for any remarks or statements

regarding their athletics or school. Very sensitive fans--they seem to beleive the

entire world is against them. But, it is OK for the muts fans to throw out insults,

jokes, and snide remarks about the other SBC teams, especially North Texas and

Troy. You really want to get to the muts, brag on their kriptonite, WKU!

Looks like the games have began! Are you ready for some Dodge Ball!

I'm sensing a bit of jealousy coming from the Muts

Wait until the Todd Dodge/Mean Green avalanche hits them. It may not be this year, but TD and the team get loaded with talent, MUTS will be history (yet again).

Sounds like a building rivalry, to me. Should be music to everyone's ears.

UNT is, and SHOULD BE the class of the SBC. They SHOULD get the top recruits, and get them early. They SHOULD be the SBC team all the others fear, and want to be like. Talk and consternation on other teams's boards about UNT getting early and high-ranked recruits in every sport SHOULD BE THE NORM.

That (IMO) needs to be the expectation, and looks like it's happening. ;)

Can't really say it's a true rivalry. We've won 5 of 6  . A number of their fans are annoying and envious, but kind of pathetic. They're just whinners, especially about UNT & Troy.

Yet you still feel the need to put a post on the MT board every time someone in Denton poops.

"Dodgeball" was a Ben Stiller movie.

BTW, all of the "hillbillies" from Tennessee say you're welcome for having a state.

Tennesseans helped us win independence from Mexico ... not become a state.

Big whoop.

So how will Texas survive as an independent Republic?

  1. NASA is just south of Houston, Texas. We will control the space industry.

  2. Defense Industry - We have over 65% of it. The slogan “Don’t mess with Texas” will take on a whole new meaning.

  3. Gas - We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States.

  4. Oil - We can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years.

  5. Natural Gas - Again, we have all we need and it’s too bad about those northern states.

  6. Technology - We currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications–small places like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Semiconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.

  7. Medical Care - We have the largest centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. Dallas has some of the best hospitals in the United States.

  8. Higher Education - We have enough colleges to keep us going: University of North Texas, University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston, Baylor, Texas Women’s University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South anyway.

  9. Labor Force - We have a ready supply of workers. We could just open the border when we need some more.

  10. Industry - We have essential control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc.

  11. “National” Security - In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don’t have an Army, but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24 hours if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over Chuck Norris and a couple of Texas Rangers.

  12. Food - We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let’s not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don’t need any food.

You don't know much Texas history. Tennessee did have a lot of settlers here, but there were many more from elsewhere in the world.

And by the way, Houston was a Virginian. Austin was a Virginian. Bowie was from Kentucky. Travis from SC. Fannin was from Georgia. Seguin was from Mexico...

Crockett WAS from Tennessee though, so you can crow about that. ;)

I'd try not to use that line of argument....lest dirty schmoo brings up our all-time record against them...or tcu....or bu...etc.

Fact is, the muts are developing into a good rivalry for us. 35-0 in our house was impressive. I am really starting to love to hate those guys!

Looks about even to me, at least in terms of difficulty.

Well, I think ours is slightly more challenging... we're playing two teams who were arguably in competition for a national title last year.
