So I was perusing through the high school section of the Dallas Morning News (the separate cutout) and saw that Ashley Akin of Plano West Senior High is playing for NT next year. She was on a doubles team that went well into the state tournament, and a team that has won 5 out of the past 6 state team tennis tournaments.

Good signing for NT.

Did it say if she signed a LOI or if she only committed? I was mistaken on 2 players earlier who committed as walk-ons.

Her ranking is not all that high so I will assume she will be a walk-on until an LOI is revealed.

Still a very good team for next year with quite abit of depth especially with the walk-ons.

I dont know, it just said she signed with NT. Regardless of her rank, she brings a winning attitude to NT.

tennis team will be strong in 07/08. With the girls coming in and those remaining, the goals for the team should be to vie for the conference championship and finish the year nationally ranked.

Will be an amazing turnaround, after finishing 2 and something this spring. The team should win 15 to 20 matches next year. Many of the incoming players are young, but very talented. There will be some leadership on the team, however. Franca will return as a senior. She is a warrior, and a good mentor to the younger players. Moreton will be a junior and is fast on her way to rehabing her injuries. Two transfers, one from the SEC, and one from a small school, will provide depth and maturity. The small school transfer is an unbelievable talent, and may play #1. The indian recruit might have something to say about that!

Looks like the incoming class is one of the top classes in the conference, and better than most in the country.

Could you let us in on who the SEC transfer and JUCO transfer might be or will it be a wait and see? or PM me.

Next year's team is very exciting. Madura last week won a round in Pro Tournament, Kazarova is a solid player, Joubert should be solid, hope Moreton can rehab fully.

Thanks for the updates.
