Channel 5 just did a report on the Mall battle at 10 tonight. The Triangle management company promised the Denton City Council a $40 Million renovation in exchange for a delay to get it done.

Rick

What the heck are they going to renovate with that $40 million? Loop 288 is already being rebuilt.

I was thinking about the DART some more.

I was originally for it because I feel that it could help in the growth of Denton, but as of lately I am leaning more away from it. I still think that it would bring in a lot more lower income families chasing after cheaper living, this would bring the Denton economy down even more - and increase the Sunday evening 'Walmart' crowd.

Wow, could you not paint the benefits of a rail system with a more wider brush?

Nonsense. A rail system would attract residents of all income levels. As for those who already live here, I commute from Denton to downtown Dallas every day and I can't wait for the rail to come online. I put 500 miles a week on my truck.

"There's another mall in Tyler that's just about identical to GTM that was doing well the last time I was there, which was probably three or four years ago. Having to drive 90 minutes to get to Dallas might have something to do with the Tyler one's success. "

I live in Tyler, and while the mall here is no Galleria, it seems to do a booming business. The owners do not neglect it and constantly work to improve it. If a tenant moves out, they get a new one and don't let the space sit there. The owners have remodeled it and have added a lot of upscale stores like Talbots, James Avery jewelers, etc. They don't have much of a food court, per se, but they do have a couple of restaurants/cookie stores in there. They are working with limited space but I think they do a good job with what they have. It's really hard to find a parking place during the month of December and any Saturday morning.

I personally always liked the GTM myself, but getting in and out of that thing is a trying experience and it's discouraging. I hate to think of it going out of business, but then, change is difficult for me. Someone said there's a day care in the mall? I've never heard of such a thing! With all the people living in the area now, I think the area could easily support Razynor Ranch and GTM. I hope it works out for them.

Has anyone else fantasized about buying a condo at the Raynor Ranch development? I'd like to have my second home there.
