Taylor to South Alabama

I just got off the phone with Chuck Taylor, who confirmed that he is headed to South Alabama to join Ronnie Arrow's staff. Taylor spent three years working with Arrow at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before coming to North Texas

Taylor said that he learned a great deal from coach Jones, but that his long-term relationship with Arrow and a bump in pay helped convince him to leave UNT for another Sun Belt school.

Greener pastures?

That hasn't helped Pacific, Lamar, or UTA do any better.

No, but they can still dedicate more funding to BBall than possibly another mid-major trying to support both. BTW, Pacific is not bad, but So. Ala has a history and is definitely more of a basketball school than any of those mentioned above.

But that was a reason given for each dropping football was to make their basketball more successful; it hasn't happened at most and likely cost $$ overall in lost image and media.

Apples to oranges. So. Alabama has a pretty good basketball history and is in a stronger conference than the schools mentioned above, well at least UTA and Lamar, with Pacific possibly being an equal.

He was an assistant coach at North Texas in 1991 according to his web site.

I believe Deon was a graduate assistant for that season.

And another candidate that I think would be outstanding, North Texas alumnus Andre Boutte, coach at Beaumont Ozen High. He has taken a couple of schools to the state championship game during his career.
