I read in the FW*T, the NT spring game report, that walk-on scholarships are

usually awarded in August.

Looks like 2 scholarships are taken now! Fentriss and Fitzgerald! Hell Yes!

With the fall practice season, will there be any walk ons coming in?

DD had "preferred walk ons" -- Will NT have any preferred walk ons this fall?

So, If a kid walks on in the fall, makes the team and is worthy of a scholarship-

the scholarship cannot be given until the following August?

Is this correct? I thought Tune walked on in the fall, then DD awarded a

scholarship to Tune just after last years spring game.

Who makes/approves the decision to give a walk on a scholarship?

If UNT has any open scholarships they can be given at any time.

But remember the numbers are 25 per year with 85 max.

We have one gray shirt this next year and getting a count on the 85 max is a moving number until 2 a-days to see who shows up and who makes grades..

I know the max on scholarship is 85, and recuiting is 25 ?

How the hell does TxTech sign 29 or 30 for 2006, and 28 for 2007?

Does Coach Dodge have any "preferred walk on's" coming in for the fall?

I know NT signed 20 kids. How many scholarships were available to use, and how

many scholarships were saved that could be used later on?

You are looking at the LOI signed by the recuit. You have no idea how many cleared the NCAA Clearinghouse and how many became walk-ons.

Last year we had what 15 Sr. We know of 3 players that are off campus due to grades. What we don't know is how many will not be back next year, the total on grade issues and did we have any ships open from last year.

This thing is really hard to pin down. We lost 18 players from last year. I believe that the following were on scholarship:

Zach Muzzy

Jonathan Ieans

Tyrone Carter

Joel Nwigwe

Phillip Graves

James Mitchell

Shawn Early

Sky Pruitt

David Collins

Jeremy Brown

Dylan Lineberry

Joel Foster

Johnny Quinn

Beau Davidson

Ronnie Hull

Willie Ransom

Chase Pistole

Robert Harmon

In addition, there were 6 that may have been given a scholarship after walking on:

Denis Hopovac

Richard Leary

Cass Starks

Chad Cooley

Marquis Ellison

? Prince

I really think that only Hopovac and maybe Starks from this group earned scholarships but Cooley lettered twice on special teams so I understand. The others came from JUCOs and I don't know what, if anything, was promised to them.

What's hard to tell is did we have 85 on scholarship? I don't think so. I counted about 80 that I felt pretty sure about, and that included Tune and Gill. I've heard that Fentriss will pay his own way (at least the fall semester) but I don't know about Garden. Plus, we all know that Fitzgerald has earned a scholarship. We also don't know for certain the status of Banks and Robertson. Nor can we know for sure if Alexander's knee will hold up. Will Durudeen be a gray shirt? From what's been said he's eligible this fall...that's another scholarship. There could also be a couple that don't show up for fall drills.

So, we could have as few as none ar we could have as many as eight to ten scholarships to give. Even Todd Dodge may not know the final number for awhile.

Latif Nurudeen- thats right, he really impressed the coaches, looked like he had

become a starting CB until he was injured.

This guy will be a good candidate for another scholarship-so that is 3 players

for sure that are worthy of scholarships-

WR Evan Fentriss, WR Casey Fitzgerald, and DB Latif Nurudeen.

Any others that might earn scholarships?
