I like our new uniform "kelly green" (tshirt on the far left of ricks pic) and hate the lighter version "toothpaste?"(other 2 tshirts)

I agree, I too like the darker color in the pictures. As for the other colors, I wouldn't wipe my...............feet with them.

Per the Startlegram this morning:

I spoke with TD and coach George after the game and couldn't help but notice their baseball-style coaching hats. Absolutely, without a doubt, the sharpest looking hats I have seen in quite a while. They were mesh, like the ones we did a few years ago. But the top was the CORRECT KELLY GREEN, as it should be, and the bill was black. The logo was the current athletic font stacked "NORTH TEXAS" in a puffy stitch. I must have one of those. The color is exactly what Silver and I had looked for several years ago when we were ordering our hats. It's similar to what we had, but a much more deeper, brighter shade of "Emerald" Kelly green. I'm pretty excited about this change and am looking forward to seeing the new uni's if they are going to match this color because it will be the first time in close to 15 years we will be back to the original, correct Mean Green on the football field.

Definitely like the new coaching hats. They have a sharp look to them. However, they would look really good with Under Armour logos on the side or back of them..... B)

Personally, I'm not too keen on Under Armour right now...I saw their shirts on display at the Green-White scrimmage, and they were twice the price of the other shirts that were being offered (and didn't appear to be that much better, save perhaps for the cool "UA" logo on them). I'll pass...

Also, if anyone saw, Voertman's has a ton of stuff on sale. Theres a really ugly New Orleans Bowl shirt for our game against Southern Miss, and other shirts, all with varying shades of green. I think they might still have that bracket shirt for $7.99 as well.

I want more creativity in the t-shirts. Nothing comes to me off the top of my head, but we need to get funny shirts out there. Maybe a "O-Who?" but thats overused, or something like "trust fund babies" for smu, something along those lines.

Couldn't agree more. I just don't see the purpose in spending an extra $25.00 just for the UA logo.

Per the UNT Branding Site,

"The new official UNT green for print is Pantone #356 (when using uncoated paper stock substitute Pantone #355). The new official UNT green for the web is hex #059033"

Gildan makes the green "Sink Navy" shirt, and I actually prefer that color. When the players sweat or pour fluids on it, it would probably darken to the "true" kelly green shirt from Rick's picture.

What about the fans and students that dont go around sweating all the time? Maybe we could choose the color that looks good when people aren't sweating.

As I said before, the pantone isn't going to help with the textile stuff. Those ordering from suppliers have to take a more proactive approach in seeing a sample for themselves rather than simply ordering online or over the phone. Gildan was my supplier as well and they JUST got that yellow green this past year. Last year when they supplied us with their version of Kelly they only had the color the GMG.com Bowl shirts were made out of.

ME:"Sir, are you absolutely sure this is the green I need? I need a Kelly, emerald green, not a faded yellow green, are you sure this is your Kelly?"

Gildan Rep: Oh, certainly we have exactly what you need, my chart I'm looking at is the same thing you have in front of you there and it's a nice shade of green, not the dark Hunter you ordered before.

so you are saying the problem is fixed and they now have the correct color kelly green?

I'd say no, if the shade they supplied for the Sink Navy is all they got. But then again you have folks like Bryan316 that is ok with it. Doesn't make it right. More than likely they don't have it correct yet won't until someone makes them. If one supplier for Footlocker makes it, others do too. The bookstores and Ad dept need to demand that they get it right. I believe Russell now has a supplier that can make the correct Kelly because there are two sweatshirts at Voertmans and the NT Bookstore that have it now. It's just going to take time for the old stuff to move out off the shelves and for our folks to stay on top of it to get it corrected.

I have spent a lot of time trying to find the "correct" kelly green....reminds me of "What's my Line"..."Will the real Kelly Green please stand up" You're probably too young to remember which also makes me depressed. I try to match the thread color to the garment color. If you call and say send me kelly green...hang on to your shorts cause you will get all of those colors. I will try to get some examples out soon. Augusta Sportswear makes a good color as well as Acadia. One must see the garment before buying it and the retailers don't usually have that option, they usually have to buy a dozen.

I agree. I dont see why it is so difficult. I understand there are many different shades of green, but the university should make sure people only print the correct colored ones- otherwise no license. I'm sure this is something that time will sort out... until then, enjoy your toothpaste
