Release: 04/18/2007

DENTON (4/18/07) – With wins in two of its last four matches, the Mean Green tennis team will look to make some opening round noise as it hosts the Sun Belt Tennis Tournament beginning Friday at the Waranch Tennis Complex.

On the strength of its 7-0 regular-season finale sweep over Louisiana Tech, North Texas (2-17) earned the 12th seed and draws No. 5 Troy (11-7) in first round action beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Two-time defending champion Florida International earned the top seed and will face the winner of No. 8 Florida Atlantic and No. 9 Arkansas State at 6:30 p.m.

The Sun Belt Championships will be the first showcase for North Texas’ new state-of-the-art facility – The Waranch Tennis Complex. Home of the Mean Green tennis team since 2006, the 12-court $3 million complex is quickly becoming known as one of the premier

Question? Does anyone proof read? How can a sweep over La Tech help NT get a last place seed in the tournament?

I think they were trying to accentuate that we at least won against somebody.

actually currently there are only 12 Teams with active teams. I still think this current team would beat WKU, but that is beside the point. Troy is a tough team to start with.

Any idea when UNO will come back for the minor sports like Tennis?

I looked at La Tech's schedule/record after we beat them 7-0. Yikes, they may be the only team we played with a worse record than us. :(

The last few years WKU had I believe 3 Latvian players, but generally they have been the weakest team in the conference outside of this year.
