I’m surprised there hasn’t been much talk on here about this play.
Not sure how many of you watched the game on TV, but I did. Watching the replay, I have no idea how the review refs could not see the ball break the plane before his knee went down. It looked pretty clear to me.
A 10-7 lead there would have made a huge difference in the game.
I know we all felt extremely confident in our offense scoring there (2nd & goal from the 1/4-yd line), but it didn’t happen, for whatever reasons.
Massive miss there.
Also the INT that was overturned by replay… another miss, even though we wound up forcing the punt.
All that said, the game was decided on the 2 INTs Morris threw in the end zone. He simply can’t throw those.
My disappointment with the offense was that they changed their profile. The moment you change you concede to the opposition. I wish the offense would have come out and been mavericks. I mean 14 more points we win that game. The change stunted their rhythm further.
I will say that they played navy and army pretty solid these past 2 years. We’re not far off from beating this style of play. We’re not getting trucked like some teams do when they face these teams.
I also believe that we’re solidly second tier in the American. But Morris keeps pointing to year 3 like at WSU. If we make progress in ‘24 we have a chance to move into top tier in ‘25. Yeah yeah different game now but I want to see progress from 23 to 24. We can still do that.

One average fan's story:
On Thursday, I talked my cousin and her husband into coming to the ARMY game. They came to games regularly for a couple of years when their daughter was accepted to NT and she was planning to attend, but with daughter deciding not to go to college (not a bad decision these days), they now come to our annual BBQ game only.
They are fantastic cooks and always bring excellent food for our tailgate when they attend.
I recommended they order their parking pass online ASAP when they made their Thursday commitment to attend.
I got a call from them at 1:00 pm. They had been trying to park for about an hour. While not handicapped, they do have some struggles walking. They got to the Blue lot and were turned away because the lot was sold out. As for every game the Blue lot is "sold out," there were at least 100 spots unused for this game. Interesting that the Blue lot attendants were not even able to take cash or card for this game because they were not going to sell a single space after the sell out was declared.
They got to the Orange lot, paid to get in and then realized they had no way to get the food and ice chest to our tailgate, which was close to a mile away from where we tailgate at the south end of the blue lot. We discussed options, including driving back to the blue lot using the Bonnie Brae entrance so the we could all come over to get their food and then go back to the orange lot but agreed the game would be started by the time they got back to the tailgate.
They gave up, drove back to McKinney and had a good dinner with the food they had prepared for our tailgate. By they way, they acknowledged it was their fault for not ordering the Blue lot ticket Thursday. But most importantly at least in theory, NT policy lost at least $3000 in parking lot revenue and all the money some fans might have spent had they come to the game.

THREE, 3 and I mean 3 points.
FCS Leghigh scored a TD to tie their game with Army with 43 seconds left in the 1st Quarter.
Army BULLIED our offense anytime they needed to. The only other team to get held to 3 point by Army this year was a 1-7 Air Force team with an Offense that Army is so familiar with they don't have to game plan to start. If Morris doesn't run the table these are the options he should be presented.
1. Stay on and take a paycut equal to the Defense Coaching Staff we choose to bring on to fix the mess you made. (A final salary no lower than 500k per year)
2. "Resign" and find an OC job and we will pay you the difference between your new salary and that salary you get at your next gig.
3. Stay on with full salary doing whatever you want but your contract is restructured to were all guaranteed money stops at end of 2025 with a 300k severance package if let go at that time.
Because if you have expectations for this program to ever be more than "hit 6" this kind of thing will make you will stop supporting the program. And by "supporting", I don't consider supporting as watching on TV occasionally, buying North Texas merchandise as a proud Alumni or not showing up to a game (other than homecoming) until they get to 5-0 in a season. Supporting means going to games regardless of record if you can or giving small/large donations to Athletic Fun equal to what you might be willing to buy a ticket for if you can't attend.
If they don't win out and I don't see major defensive improvement next year. My behavior won't qualify as supporting the program as I have defined it. My support isn't huge but I do what I can. Not being in Atheltic Department meetings for the outside it just doesn't look like they are doing what they can to get beyond Hit 6.
