Did anyone else notice that Jean-Jacques Taylor of the DMN referred to CUSA as a "bad conference" today in his aricle on the front page of the sports section. I am sure that he has no love for the SBC, but I did find that statement interesting.

He appears to be a Big12 & BcS homer. He says not to make excuses for the aggies loss, then writes the whole article about excuses for them losing to a non-BCS program. At least Blackistone is gone now, but this guy isn't much better.

He is probably right. The SBC did have a winning record against CUSA during the regular season.

If Memphis stays strong, the entire league will improve in basketball as they try to compete. When UNLV was great in the late 80's/early 90's the Big West was a helluva lot better basketball league than they are now. Even the WCC has gotten noticeably stronger since Gonzaga rose to prominence.

Those other schools may not be able to beat the bully(especially the bottom dwellars), but as a group they get better TRYING to do so.

I guess any conference that is not part of the "Big 6" (aka: BCS) conferences is a "bad conference."
